  1. As once a member of East Coast Jazz, when it comes to this you kind of just have to role with the punches. Administration decistions like these are out of the members control. I am very sorry to see Spartans go the way of the jazz, however, when greed and stubbornness and pride gets in the way this is what happens. It is a shame!
  2. No no not at all Im just implying that theyll stay because there will be money. :)
  3. Ok me speaking for me not the corps....I think it was decided to call it quits for one more year because maybe this time around we want to do things right instead of just rushing in there and doing everything not at top quality where it needs to be. When ECJ does come back it will be done right with the right staff and everything in place needing it where it needs to be meaning; outstanding debts paid, money is coming in to support the organization, and a staff to draw students in all of these attributes will provide a successful and competitive unit that ECJ once was.
  4. Haha I wasn’t getting offended by any means I was just saying people always have something negative to say instead of positive. That’s all. But I digress.
  5. Noduttingoutloud, clearly you’re from Spartans. I would ask you politely not to make crude or sarcastic comments about ECJ and other groups. When you say words like that it only hinders the group’s progress to get back on their feet. We need support not nonsense. Thank You
  6. Things are well on their way...and Miles Davis died in 1991. Don't worry things will be payed off in full ,and there is a surplus on its way.

  8. Yes everyone in the South East New England area should come check us out, great staff and a great program.
  9. Ok wow, so this is a very riveting post we have going on here I see. Lets just stay that these types of sites everyone is entitled to their opinions and such, however lets leave out the bickering. Yes ECJ folded and Yes they are coming back and I think people are getting in way to deep on how this is going to be done. The fine people who are taking up the means on how this is going to happen will be the ones to carry the brunt of this project. So instead of this said bickering we should be giving support and praise that another corps is back and ready to do what drum corps do....PERFORM great music, and make you the fans throw baby's. If anyone wants any info at all to help ECJ, PM me and i wll be more then happy to help!
  10. From what I hear some very, very good things going on to get the group to be finically stable and some interesting staffing developments.
  11. Just let an official word from the admin, whoever that may be, give the final word. In my word as a former member; ECJ has WAY to much going for them to fold....I know if given the chance under the right people (with the passion of Choppy); ECJ could very well be a top finalist corps in DI given the chance. In the last three years East Coast Jazz has shown the world that giving certain financial restraints they can still produce a top caliber ensemble. If anyone on this board loves drum corps and I hope all of you do, PLEASE support ECJ through this rough time. Send them as much emails as you can show you’re support and don’t let one more corps go under and if you can please donate. Please help drum corps in New England prosper not die.
  12. YES it is true, drum corps is finally back to the area of RI an SE MA! for more info please go to www.riyaa.org ! Please support somthing that has been missing in this area for more then 30 years!
  13. Heres whats going to go down in top 8 FYI I am not marching anywhere this year Everything is subject to change with the post, its just a prediction. 1-3 ECJ- Have herd really good things about changes within the oraginization, they where redy to go DI this year but didnt beacues of numbers. They still have a DI book and staff and ready to go. Academy-Making a good first performance in DCI Finals, will do well OC- They have Jeff Mitchell enouph said! B/t 4-8 will be a guessing game. 4-6 Spartans-Visual and guard will be strong. For BDB and SCVC their bigger and better then their last trip to finals we shall see. BDB- SCVC Dont know much about these 3, things could go wither way with these guys but have been hearing good things about them all off season. 7-8 Memphis Teal Impulse
  14. As far as who takes what and who will win finals you never know.... Last year people thought ECJ was going to come in like third and we won, you never know. Alot of the smaller corps have had beatin out big ones (Spartans and ECJ in 98 with Tarheel) before. Im just saying i know Spartans and ECJ will not go down with out a fight! and i know ECJ has some tricks up their sleaves, they always do. Espeally now with J.D writing their show :)
  15. Look out for some very very interesting news for ECJ!
  16. If most of you people would just read what I wrote before in the last post i put up. That we all know that its always hard for a first year corps making the step from DII to DI and we know this. So stop beating a dead horse. Get on with your lives, in most cases i think the decition has been make already and if people have a problem with that then you need to get a life. Ok ill step off my soap box now, and for the record i know that Spartans have already said many times that they will never go DI. They are fine were they are.
  17. ECJ is more then ready to handle what is going to be asked of them to be a competitive unit in DI. Sure if we do move up, things will go good, or ok witch is ok for a first year corps making this big step, witch in my opinion is the good one. It will establish a new DI unit in the New England area witch it needs and it will help support and grow more programs in MA and through out New England. As far as the competitive aspect, the drum corps knew we were not going to go to DI Quarters for 05 so the show was designed that way. With a new division, come new program changes, witch ECJ is more then capable of adapting to. We did what we did for a DII corps because we are and maybe “where” a DII corps. We also did what we did to the division guidelines and a little extra. Giving it a soul, heart and a life of it’s own. If ECJ does go DI it will not be the same ECJ that is in DII. Things will change to adhere to the DI guidelines, and I’m pretty sure the administration of the drum corps knows this and is ready to make the proper accommodations as they see fit. To yet again bring an entertaining and also competitive program to the field no matter what division they are
  18. ECJ is looking to go DI in the near future, and we have our financial situation under control. The admin. for the drum corps has relized all of things you are saying and are well on their way to fix all of the problems you speak of. As to the topic of us going DI, I have been doing drum corps for 5 years and I have had people tell me that with the staff and the talent we have, even thou we need a little more membership, we def could make semis are first year out. If things keep on getting better like they have been, I can see ECJ making top 12 in the future.
  19. Does anyone elts notice how OldGuard and Sobe's resposes look the same.....HMMMMMM CLUE SHERLOCK
  20. Sorry thanks for the edit..... This is all just a big huge mess
  21. Somehow i dont think that is the case....
  22. So but one would agrue what would be the more important show to win...i think that would be Saturday. just my two cents :)
  23. We have a few more horn spots open, if you are interested please see our web site for more info at EastCoastJazz.org Thank You Come be apart of the best brass line in DII!
