  1. Meh.......there hasn't been a picture of me for a while.
  2. I believe Bonnie was also the Americanos' horn instructor in '80.
  3. We had close to 10 former Americanos in the '77 Marquis. Even the New London contingent.
  4. Off topic, and not our military.......but check out the Hungarian Border Guard Orchestra tear it up: Sammy Nestico--
  5. Thank you, Wikipedia..........however I'd guess that if you did a google image search for "sombrero" and for "gaucho hat" you'll be viewing two seperate and distinct kind of hats. Back off topic.......did they trade their sombreros for tams, or a balmoral??? Tam O'Shanter: Balmoral:
  6. There were also several highly competitive drill teams in Eastern Wisconsin that fed some members to local drum corps--Green Bay's Northern Step, Sheboygan's Buccaneers and Accents, and Greendale's Mariners.
  7. Polish Falcon Cadets went from 17th at DCI prelims in '75 to 47th at DCI prelims in '76. Does anybody have the story behind THAT epic tumble??
  8. Were they still Vaquero's, or were they the Fireman-Vaqueros in '76?? Geno, help us out here!!!! And were the Hornets still around??
  9. The Blackhawk Voyageurs were actually a Wisconsin corps.....I'ma add them to my list. Was Nisei still around in '76??
  10. I beg to differ, here's a roster from '76: http://my.execpc.com/~thbolt/thbolthist.html Oooops.
  11. Yeah, Brian--I see you looking and I don't think the West Allis Wranglers started until '76.
  12. Matt, I'm gonna leave it up to you to cover the Illinois corps from '76. (And don't forget the Flying Dutchmen.)
  13. So was I. In 1976 in Wisconsin, you just might see one of the following corps: Park Falls Brass Regiment Wisconsin Rapids Zephyrs Wausau Story Pages of the Wausau Story Rhinelander Belles of St Mary Stevens Point Centralaires Eau Claire Sundowners Appleton Americanos Appleton Toros La Crosse Blue Stars La Crosse Blackhawks Oshkosh Marauders Manitowoc Royal Knights Fond du Lac Marquis West Bend Patriots Cedarburg Thunderbolts Madison Explorer Scouts Madison Junior Scouts Madison Capitolaires Milwaukee Pioneer Milwaukee St Mathias (I forget if they were Cadets, or were Midwest Express) Milwaukee Militaires Milwaukee Chordaliers Milwaukee Rebels Milwaukee Crusader-Gladiators Port Washington Windjammers Janesville Blackhawk Voyageurs Racine Kilties Racine Kiltie Kadets Racine New Day Racine New Dawn Racine Explorer Scouts Racine Spirit of '76 And on occasion the Yoopers would come to visit: Marquette Majestics Ishpeming Blue Notes Sigh.........I don't remember if the Mariners had folded yet (help, Dan.)
  14. Ahhh......the early season in the Midwest was something to behold. Besides the aforementioned Madison "disco" show, we also had PR ascending to elite status, Cavaliers changing in style from silk cadet to naugahyde standing man, Kilts tanking and suffering the ignominity of being beaten by the Pioneer, Blue Stars attempting to hold winter camps in two seperate cities with inglorious results, Guardsmen and Marquis making a move on finals status and Osage being not far behind. Mmmmm.........1976.
  15. Only one line has that guy.
  16. Sam's a pimp, 'cuz there were Cavaliers that couldn't make it to the field this year, but Sam brought 'em anyway......
