  3. That was three minutes of my life, I will never get back...
  4. This is our "unoffical" Mission statment, Things will hopefully be offical Wednesday, when we meet for our monthly meeting. The mission statment is as follows, The Americanos Alumni Association is a group for the preservation of shared experiences of the Americanos organization, including former marching members, staff, directors, volunteers and fans. The purposes of the Americanos Alumni Association (hereinafter referenced sometimes as only “Alumni Association”) shall be to provide a social environment for the former members of the Americanos Drum and Bugle Corps to gather, meet and share experiences; to preserve the history of the organization; to support and encourage continued excellence of the Americanos, Inc. through volunteer and financial support efforts. We are merely trying to preseve whats left of our organization and by doing this we want to celebrate the years that the Corps was around. I guess I could see if the Americanos were once a big money maker for DCI, but this really isnt the case. The Americanos remained for a majority of DCIs existance as a Smaller class corps. Americanos were more benifical to DCM then DCI From what I gather. I have look on to other Alumni Websites and full shows Audio and Video have been posted. I have also looked up the Americanos on ebay to find a 12 year Cd being sold for $15. So I am just confused on how all of this works...
  5. Ok so I am facing a road block. I am currently in the process of setting up a website for an Inactive Corps. Who holds the copyright for the video/audio etc. Even though The Americanos have no intention on returning to the field (anytime soon), the organization is still in operation. If the Americanos give us permission to post these on The Alumni Website would this be a ligit consent or will I have DCI breathing down our neck? Does anyone know the answer?
  6. We actually have a corps data account and because the americanos don't compete it is free. the only problem that we are having is the fact that the americanos have a lot of websites as it is eventually we would like our site to be a central location. problem 2 is that we have a big older generation so the less websites the better.
  7. I was just wondering if any one knew of a good database that I can use for the Americanos Alumni Assocation. Over the Years rosters have walked out the door and we are going to use our new Website build a database. I am looking for one that I can use to interface it with the website at very little or no cost. Our site is currently still underconstruction as we gather media and other information to put on the site. The projected plan for the launch of the site is August 1st. Our site will be for Former members, Staff Members, Board members, Volunteers and Fans. If you know of a database please let me know. If you are interested in the progress of the Alumni Association please feel free to PM me or email canos_alumni@hotmail.com. We are always looking for new ideas! As always, VIVA! Sean Americanos Alumni Association
  8. Ironicly enough, the parrot was used by the Americanos for sometime.
  9. I have a favor to ask to anyone who would be willing to help. For the past couple of months, I have been working with other alumni, of the Americanos drum and bugle corps, to form an alumni association. We are now in the process of making things offical, but it will be some time before it is. I am asking anyone who would be willing to make a logo that contains "Americanos Alumni". I would do this myself, but i have niether the time or the skills to do it. This would be volunteer basis only. If you are willing to help please let me know. Thanks, Sean
  10. I am currently in the process of setting up and Alumni Association for the Americanos Drum and Bugle corps. I am trying to start an album that will displayed on the Alumni website. If you can help me out that would be wonderful. Please send your photos to canos_alumni@hotmail.com Thank you! Sean Americanos Alumni Association
  11. Here is what your going to do. We are going to steal pioneers chords leading in to gary owen. Huh? And as your walk off the field your going to play those chords. ok. instead of playing gary owen, your going to play the mexican hat dance. the crowd will be so confused it will be great!
  12. I am gald that I finally got a meeting together. We have another meeting planned for later may, hopefully the word has spread and more people are interested in makeing this thing work. We want to make small strides and dont expect things to happen over night. I have contacted the Local alumni, who mainly marched in the 70s and 80s. While we were there I was saddened to hear that an Alumni who marched in the very early years passed away. He had collected alot of items from the Americanos early years, and his family just tossed all the items away. Hopefullywe can prevent this in the future.
  13. For the Past couple of years I have been tring to get an alumni organization for the Americanos up an rolling. Just recently I have managed to hold a meeting with a few individuals, who have the same goals and who would like to see an alumni organization. Ideas are being tossed around and our next meeting will be set for later this month. I was wondering if it would be possible to get by laws from active Alumni organizations. We are interested to see how other organizations operate. If anyone is willing to help it would be greatly apprecaited. Sean
  14. I am sorry to hear this news, I wish fever all the best!
  15. For a more specific year was 2004. I know he did the Americanos home show, and I also remember seeing him at the madison show. Thanks for your help though.
  16. Lately I have been working on forming an alumni organization for the Americanos. I remember hearing from someone, dont remember who, that the show announcer for Open class Finals marched the Americanos at one point. The first question is, is this true? second question is if it is, where can I get contact info on him?
  17. I am suprised Walmart hasnt been hit up. The amout of shoping corps do at Sams club and walmart stores, you would atleast think they would give alittle back.
  18. in 05 I was pick pocketed coming out of a gas station. My Tour money atm card, and Ids were gone. crappy part was i was headed up to boston for our midwest move in. We had to go to through Canada, I was able to get the Americanos to fax my Birth certificut over but some one forgot to grab it when we left. Not much fun trying to explain to customs why I didnt have proper Identication. I was almost stranded in Niagra falls, forutnatly Tom C was able to talk the custom officers in to letting me go through.
  19. i think that the Americanos still have there trailer, but its a semi.
  20. Like Americanos in 1994 with a membership of 34.
  21. Cody i will let you read what Butch wrote to us back in June of 07. The Americanos are alive and doing well. Here is Video of a rehearsal of AI and velocity I have talked to Julie She has informed me that her plans for this summer will be a samba group that will make apperances in the Fox Valley. I trust that the Board is making the right decision to start off small. They have learned and payed the price for taking more than they can chew. As far as the All Age thing goes the alumni are not ready for that yet. For over a year Nick Blank and myself have tried to pull an alumni organization together and it has not been an easy task. However there is a meeting being planned for sometime in April. In this meeting myself Nick Blank, Bill Schultz, and a couple of other Alumni from Bills era will get together to discuss the formation of an Alumni organization. I have an open invitation to any Alumni out there who would like to be apart of this. I have also invited Julie so that the Alumni can formally meet her aswell as hear her plans for the organization. At this time I can tell you that we have no plans on fielding a DCA corps or a SDCA corps. I have been approached by SDCA, but had to turn them down because of the lack of support. Things are slowly happening for both groups. The meeting is the Biggest thing that has happened in over a year. I jsut hopw that other Alumni see that The Americanos are missed and they have not been forgotten. If you have any questions please feel free to let me know and I will try and answer them for you. VIVA Sean
  22. ECJ 05 We were in New york rehearsing. We were cleaning the "pandoras box" Drill at the end of La fiesta. Any away in the drill I watch a mellophone smack in to the back of a tuba face first. It wasnt just a small smack either. she was literally ran in to the back of it while the tuba pretty much ran in to her. I seriously thought she was going to be out for the show. The next day she had a wicked black eye, and still did the show. After almost passing out whe was treated at a first aid tent, when the paramedics asked her what had happened, they were shocked that she did the show.
