  1. Yes there was something up and coming in the wake of RCR's demise, but from my perspective, the focus turned from starting a new corps to ... well ... something else. The good news in all of this is that the Freelancers Alumni corps has an awesome hornline. We're having a great time playing great tunes. The best part? NO DRAMA. None. Nadda. Ziltch. We show up, we play, we leave. I couldn't ask for much more. More good news? You betcha (and perhaps Kelli or someone from the organization can verify this), the drumline (...and colorguard?) is getting going as well, sometime in the fall. I don't know many of the specifics. Sorry. So keep your eyes and ears peeled. Good things are happening.
  2. I could have done without the cheesy commercials after every corps finished performing. They were WAY too loud (obnoxious) and usually had some kind of lame techno beat, which really soured the mood. Outside of that, great show.
  3. Man I would love to be there, but the 22nd is my birthday and I've got plans with the wife. Absolutely count me in for the next rehearsal though! I have a Bb trumpet, but I'd rather play baritone if anyone has an extra :P
  4. Thanks Lee - yeah I completely figured that it would be a tight squeeze that late in the game, unfortunately, it's my wife's one requirement - I gotta take the winter off to help with our brand new baby. Actually I thought she totally didn't want me to march this season, but last night I watched the ESPN DCI telecast and got the bug again, and she said she understands that drum corps is a part of my life - I thought that was really cool! Regardless, I'll be sure to hit either you or Chris up to see what's available in a few months. ...and where are the Open House pictures??? Get that website updated guys!!! oh and Adam, it will always be funny, regardless how much its been beaten to death. I'm so sorry you don't feel the same way. Maybe I just have a different sense of humor about the whole thing. I dunno. And hey, hopefully I can buy you a beer at a Renegades camp soon enough and we can laugh about it some more...
  5. Ahh just like old times Adam - never able to comprehend a simple joke.... I'll march Renegades this year if there is a Bari spot open in Feb/March (I've already got the a.o.k from Angie). Until that time I'm straight chillin
  6. I know of a guy in West Sac who's got some drums you can use... *crawls back into his hole*
  7. Maybe. As for RCR, I hope they do a major marketing campaign, becuase none of the original members will come back. As for me, I've decided to take up trombone. I'd much rather sit in an air-conditioned room and jam than march anymore - too much drama.
  8. I can't speak on behalf of RCR, but just rest assured plans are in the making. Don't count on any information being released about 'another' organization until things are finalized, planned, and 100% ready. Patience folks! Great things are happening!
  9. I'm curious what kind of revenue could be acquired for an event like this. I've organized tournaments in the past, but it's usually broken close to even for a butt load of work. Can anyone describe how much the fees were, prizes, and other costs? I'd love to know. Thanks!
  10. I love the "uniforms"!!! I wish we wore something along those lines instead of a traditional drum corps uni. Very nice!
  11. I'm sure just as soon as certain circumstances get wrapped up and when the stars and the moon align, all will be revealed. Stay tuned, folks.
  12. I've got a full house here tonight to watch the show via webcast - looks like we're all having similar problems - can't login, can't load the stream, if it loads the stream looks and sounds like ####. I've already left a very 'detailed' message with DCI HQ. This is very frustrating.
  13. Not to get too off topic, but Im really hoping that a legitimate All Age Corps gets started in the northwest. I don't quite understand why there isn't one considering all of the old drum corps guys that are in the area (Troopers, Marauders, Cascades, etc). Seems like a hot bed just aching for a corps. Heck, part of the reason I didn't move to Vancouver was no drum corps in the area...
  14. That was a monumental day. I can't remember the show at all, but looking over the pictures, everyone was glowing. It was probably my proudest moment in drum corps. It was one of the rare times that I felt like we actually achieved something, albiet it was short lived, it was still pretty cool.
