  4. Nice to hear these comments. I'm happy they're working on their complete drill for the next show. Always loved that horn line! Great name for their show too.
  5. Oops! Make that the Royal Airs. Sorry. Just wondered how they sounded and looked? How many members overall. How many drums, horns, and guard? Does it look like they'll be at Scranton?
  6. This is nothing new for the Blue Stars. At any show I have been to where they performed, I have always seen a large portion of the corps sitting together in the back stands - and always cheering on the other corps. This is one of the reasons I absolutely love this corps. The kids have class with a capital C. Tim Kviz I love hearing this kinda stuff. It's the way it used to be. All the corps in the NWDCA used to sit together on the back side of the field and yes, cheer on the competition. That's how we all met each other and became friends. That's the best post I've read on DCP to date. Thank you Tim Kviz. rwrice

  8. I need two or three good seats for the DCI Finals show in Denver Saturday, August 7th. Preferably on the first or second level near the center. Will pay top dollar for the right seats. Please respond to rwrice@hotmail.com Thanks, Rice
  9. ...and it lasted until Labor Day weekend too. Also, the shows were always on the weekends like they should be. Like DCA does now! Go DCA!!!
  10. Winning the only show the Bellevue Sentinels ever won on July 8th, 1973 in Vancouver, Washington.
  11. Uncle z, The Auburn Black Watch is from Auburn, Washington. I don't think they are active as a competition corps anymore. They were started in the early '70's by a "Danny somebody" I don't recall his last name. (Kind of a jerk to tell you the truth) Oh yea, Danny Anderson. Anyway, I guess they were pretty good by the end of the 70's. I don't know for sure though because I quit DC after the '74 season. I think corpsreps.com might have some information on them.
  12. The Yankee Rebels. In the early seventies when half of the corps wore the Blue Union Army uniforms and the other half wore the Grey Confederate Army uniforms. Very cool. Or, the Troopers of course! (but that goes without saying...)
  13. The Bellevue Sentinels and the Seattle Shamrocks merged at the end of the 1974 season (to avoid both folding) and became the Seattle Marksmen. The Marksmen only lasted for one season in 1975 and then they folded as well. This has been my experience with two drum corps merging and leads me to the following answers to this threads opening questions: Is it worth it to merge two corps to make one good one? No. Who wins in this situation? Nobody. Was it really worth it? No. Have you marched in a merged corps? No I didn't. Explanation: I left drum corps in '74, but my fellow Bellevue Sentinel friends did march in '75 with the Marksmen. They didn't like it. No longer were practices held conveneintly in our own home town of Bellevue saving time and money for the participants. Now practice was thirty or forty miles away in some obscure corner of Seattle where traffic was clogged up for hours. The former staff members and instructors from both corps, whether appointed by staff or "self appointed" as in some cases (Brian Fox), just couldn't get along. Too many egos in the way. Their were constantly coments made during rehersals and bus rides about who beat who last year and the year before that and so on and so on... How did it go? It basically didn't as history proves. When was the last time a merged corps won a DCI title? Never as far as I know.
