Hello, I was wondering if anyone out there has any information on drum corps that existed in the St. Paul, MN area way back in say maybe the 1940's? In 2006 my grandpa, Albert Waldbilig, came to one of my drum corps shows, and in talking with him after the show our family found out that he had marched snare drum. It was a complete shock, but awsome at the same time to know that Drum Corps was in my families history. Now as my grandpa is getting older I really wanted to try and find out more information about any possible corps in this area and maybe some how get some pictures of him or just the snare line or just some information would be great... I understand this may be a little too long ago, but I really wanted to try and get some information that maybe I could put something together so we can share our corps experiances together. thanks

Snare, I tried out last year, but I just wasn't a smart enough drummer, I've been working on that a lot over the summer as well as building my endurance and strength. hopefully i will make it to december camp.

Oh man, this makes me want to practice so hard corp..... man i really really really want to be appart of the Phantom Regiment DL. (i have 2 more chances to audition) they are amazing!, not to mention the sweet ### horn line and hot guard. thanks for that link.. bye

Not to be a jerk or anything, yes all those uniforms still maintin the same logos, and meaning, but the unifroms have not reamined 100 percent the same, notredame is little shinyer gold (more sparkle) than it had a few years back, Dallas has had several changes in uniforms i belive in 1998 they had blue sholders with whites stars on the top (and that has varied since then) and michigan i am sure has had some minor changes to their unifroms as well and even the red wings ( i don't follow hockey much) but i think they've changed the red and white combinations on the uniforms a few times..... if you consider those to have reamined the same then i would say the cadets unis have too, everything chages in appreance just slightly every year, for evey team, for every sport, it's just the way it is, it's keeping that modern look but maintaining that same effect, i am sure the cadets of the 80's looked "modern" then, and looked "modern" in the 90's and now they still do..... it's to keep the old look with a fresh new flair so it makes it stand the test of time........ granted though i hate when corps loose things like a buckle for a mirror and what not. i know i don't know much, but i know they have meaning to members at least in some corps and i think traditions like that should remain the same. i hate when traditions are changed. enough out of me. peace.

So Rennick isn't a genoius to anyone else? don't for get that phantom did take Second in percussion this year..... on another note casella with cavies will be amazing to see (he and Rennick are my favorite arragers).... does this mean any technique changes? or will they stick to typical cavies playing?

So who is really in the lead.... at one point phantom beat cadets in drums, scouts beat cavies last night in drums.... when they fianlly meet head to head, who's it gonna be? i think theres gonna be a bit of a shake up this year, or at leat really really close, there are some seeeeeet drumlines this year keep it up guys and gals, i love those clean beats

My friend told me that DL PL.net was down becasue they are looking for sposor ship and until they get those sponsors, they will remain down. that all i know for now... anyone else? lata, nate

I have seen a bass drum pracitce pad that apeared to have 2 small real feel pads attached to a small stand that kids were using as bass drum practice pads.... is there such a thing actaully available? or did these kids just make them, their selves. ?

sorry for such a poorly written post, my hands we really cold.... but anyways I meant the judge tape for phantom on 04 and cadets in 03. when the tape cuts out and he is clearly speaking, what is he saying that caused this sections to be removed?

just wondering what he is saying somtimes that causes us not to be able to hera it ? like mid way throuhg opener of phantom it just cuts out, he has the recorder up to his face and i hear nothing. this happened in 03 as well, durring a section of te cadets show, just wondering what was said that cuased it to be cut. just curious, i not a big deal. nate

Both are sweet as heck in there own right, but i gave it SCV just bcasue it's goovey and there is so much split between sections and so on.... but def like Ditty on feild for BD this year, that mosh was kewl.

I suppose the answer to this is obvious, but i am going to an audition where i am not able to view the audition materials before the audition. My site reading skills are not that bad but they are far from what they are. I know it is important to be able to pick up on things fast and i think i can gnerally do that well, but i have a hard time site reading adv. music and doing it well, tends to take me a little longer than normal.. if you say just pracice site reading, i say yeah i know, but i have no accesss to any materials to practice with, just wondering if anyone has any suggestions. thanks
