  1. I want to hear good things about the Bridgemen open house. Feel free to spill your guts. B)
  2. The Bridgemen did a rap during their uniform change in the 1985 Christmas in July Sow.
  3. I'm sorry Miss, this is the adult section. Keep in mind that a lot of us marched Division I Junior Corps back in the day and some even made finals. Come back when you have your Mid-Life crisis and see if you have the same attitude. Senior Corps is a venue where, "Old People" like myself, can have fun. If I have flash backs to by gone glory years so much the better. B)
  4. I remember the Drum Corps season being a lot longer with drumcorps peeking in mid to late August. It seems to me the shorter season makes it more difficult with less room for error at the start of the season. Will the shrinking season, due to a longer school year, further change the Junior side of Drum Corps? It seems to me, community drum corps with strictly local talent, may be the furture if schools across America eventually go to a, year round quarter system, with two week breaks. There could be more "weekend worrior" groups out there in the future. Any thoughts?
  5. Oh, I think they will be able to find a buyer for the G Bugles with no problem. There are several new Senior Units forming all over the place. Many of the members for these new units are former Junior Corps members from the bygone years.
  6. Every time I get down about the way the activity is going, I just look to the Marine Drum and Bugle Corps and Marvil at the way they can blow away any corps. They use the basic tools of percussion and the 2 valve Kanstul bugle to create their shows. They can cave in your chest with sound and leave you begging for more. That's what I saw from junoir corps at my 1st drum corps show in 1983 and that's what I miss. Does anyone have the creativity to take a basic set of tools and create an outstanding show. The activity used to have such people. This is from a sax player that learned how to play Baritone Bugle in order to be a part of the awsome activity of yesteryear.
  7. Thanks for the hint. You might see us in 2006 Mini, but for sure in 2007. So far, everyone I've talked to from DCA has been real encouraging. I, for one, am looking forward to getting back to performing.
  8. As I restart what I left behind before leaving the states for Iraq, I am debating what to present to my peeps. I know we want to eventually compete in DCA Central. I'm not really sure if we want to go Class A or Open Class. I'd probably prefer Open Class. Since I'm still in the "Sand Box" I don't have my DCA Rules handy. What's the advantages and disadvantages of each? If we are not ready for a full blown field show in 2006, is it worth it to travel to the East Coast for Mini Corps? Your answeres and suggestions will give me something to occupy my mind while in the Guard Tower on Midnight shift. Thanks in advance.
  9. Does anyone know if the Mini Corps shows will be offered on DVD as the Main shows are? I didn't get to attend this year due to deployment to Iraq. B)
  10. I want all the Kansas Corps back. Argonne, Sky Ryders, Silver Sabres, Frontiersmen, Pioniers, Tri-vel Raiders, and all the Wichita Corps. Plus:Freelancers, Suncoast Sound, 27th, VK, Bridgemen Junior (glad to see the Alumni corps), Geneseo Knights, Florida Wave, Railmen and all the others that I've failed to mention.
  11. We will have other changes for Prairie Sound after the August meeting. Thanks, Jeff.
  12. Please change The Prairie Sound web site to: prairiesound.homestead.com Thanks, Jeff.
  13. Sky Ryders! I'll make it my next mission when I get back from the Sandbox. B)
  14. Look at the Salina Silver Sabres web site. they have some recordings of Argonne in the 70s available.
  15. Well, the Salina Silver Sabres are on the way back and they are charging around $200 per year. B) They have good Alumni backing.
  16. Were the two tone horns the Crossmen used to have a trade mark or is there some other story behind them? Just curious, they were one of the first Drum Corps I saw and heard live.
  17. Did you guys live in the dorms at Hutch Junior College in 88? We did in 87 and that did cost some extra money, although, it was real convenient and kept the bulk of the corps together.
  18. I liked performing at Mile High both years I marched and at finals in 87. Awsome feeling at those shows. B) b**bs
  19. Did anyone else like the Freelancers show in 1985. They had a cool soprano line feature called Bells, I think, and the Sopranoes really did a good job sounding like bells. I also remember their color guard with those velcro uniforms that they rearranged throughout the show. I liked watching them almost as much as the VK Cymbal Players. ^0^ Very good solid corps back then.
  20. VK 1985 ROCKED! I still hear their horns playing Peter Gun to this day and I don't have the recording. It was too cool VK. B)
  21. They were beating us (Sky Ryders) in the second tour and our Director was livid. We thought our show was more difficult and pleased the audience more. They were for sure cleaner at the time.
  22. We had people jumping on the Sky Ryder corps wagon all through the season in 85. I joined before the 2nd tour. I wasn't already in a corps though.
  23. Man, it didn't sound like 35 horns. I remember hearing the show from outside the stadium as we were getting ready to perform. I thought you had almost a full corps.
