  1. Interesting post.... Drum corps will never again be what it once was. Drum corps will never be tomorrow what it is today. Change is the only real constant that we have in life and so drum corps must and will change. The control that we seek to impose to stop change is an illusion. Viewed in that way, I let go of my anger a long time ago and look forward to what each corps brings to the field each season with no expectations. ...Zen and the Art of Loving Drum Corps
  2. Not sure how this discussion continues without mention of Jim Jones Gail Royer Jim Wren Wayne Downey
  3. Dang!!! Sorry I missed practice last night Tom!!!! Sounds like a fun season ahead. Good luck to the whole gang.
  4. You have to go back to when there were endings for this... Phantom '78 Bridgemen '78 Spirit '80 Schaumberg '80 27 '80 Madison '80 BD '80 MB3 '81
  5. Rockland overall Specifically the push in Solitaire when they burst the arc. Goosebump city always!!!!!
  6. After being away from the activity from 1988, I found drum corps again in '99 in Allentown. Went to Finals from 00-04, was in Denver but had to leave before things even got started. Seeing Finals at home in Foxboro was an experience that I will always cherish. As for the corps, 1. Cavies from '00-'03 redefining what movement could be and doing it so elegantly. 2. BD, my all time favorite corps doing a show that I still cannot stand behind today, Dance Derby '05, no matter how much I love them. 3. BAC's RED show from 2000, easily one of the most moving shows I have ever seen. But the one that stands out for me above all the others is... PR's 2005 show of Rhapsody. It's the best integrated and most entertaining show I have seen in a long, long time and will always stay with me as one of the all time greats.
  7. I competed against Fitchburg as a jr corps. Not aware that they were in DCA.
  8. '75 but it looks like the only show they did outside of MA was the DCI Prelims. '76 was the merger that brought them into North Star.
  9. Arranged by Rick Connors I believe. He always put some fun and showy charts together.
  10. It's OK he has been busy getting our Christmas presents...
  11. Enjoy Tom!!!! Please give my regards to the gang.
  12. Yeah that Guardsmen line from '79 was something else. The sops in TOSP had a really nice edge mixed in with all that range. That list above is glaring in it's omission of Gerry Noonan. Aside from the great work he did in live shows, I had the pleasure of seeing him in practice almost year round during that time and he was just a good there as you might imagine.
  13. That's it!!! The Styx show from '79 with the fog machine was what I was remembering. Definately more of a turban than a do-rag'
  14. Sue, I seem to remember Quasar wearing black one year. That ring a bell with you?
  15. I guess my pespective is a little different.
  16. Ignore the naysayers Tom. They are incapable of understanding.
  17. That's a funny list but I grew up in Boston and lived in NYC. Just recently moved to Houston. The driving woes here are dramatically overblown. It's really no worse than any other major city in this country.
