  1. It is in a can, kinda like a can of spray paint. It should be available in most hardware stores. Most returning vets should be able to tell you where to find it in your area, because they had to buy it when they were a rookie as well. Hope you have a great year marchin on the turf!
  2. I am 99.9% convinced that a kid will not do anything on tour that he/she would not do at home. If they want to do something, or have a tendancy to do something, they are going to find a way to do it no matter where they are. But there is a 0.1% chance that i am wrong. Either way, there are serious dangers out there that parents need to simply warn their children of. Too many parents rely on administrators, teachers, instructors, and church leaders to teach their children right from wrong. Life lessons are learned by trial and error--but error is avoided by talking to your kids about whatever it may be:drugs, sex, alcohol, contra sectionals....... IF a parent finds these postings, i hope that he or she will use it to let their child know what they expect of them this summer--what to do, and what not to do. bla bla bla i'll shut up now.
  3. Can anyone please explain the crowbar to me? I remember seeing their bass drums walking around with it back in 98....a crowbar..... I don't get it.
  4. I want to get my freakin face ripped off my the most mind blowing show of all time. Mind blowing, not confusng and lame. And I also want to see a lot of kids come home at the end of the year thinking that that was the best summer of their lives. Amen.
  5. This is another example of how the Japanese witness something from a foreign land, think about how they can make it better, and put out a superior product.... Cars, camera's, video game systems, etc.. God bless Edward Demming......
  6. Dang, you and your folks are missing out. It makes all the difference when you perform on turf.
  7. You are going to regret it if you don't get your own can of turf spray. One of the essentials.
  8. I changed my vote for favorite instrument from Contra to......the Santa Clara Vanguard. Everyone should learn to play the SCV......though only few actually can..... i think it is bed time.
  9. Forgive me for my ignorance......first time i heard PR 1990 is tonight while doing some homework..... about half way through the show....... I heard excerpts from Phantom of the Opera (scv 89), City of angels ?(Madison 89?), New World (PR 89) Am I losing my mind? Did they really take a bunch of excerts from different shows and put them into the 1990 show? Wow. If so, please tell me what other ones I am missing. If I am wrong, please correct me! Thanks
  10. I believe that the Drum Major for the Troopers 1995 through 1998 actually started marching when he was 11 in 1991....though he apparently told the corps that he was age 15 at his first camp, and at each subsequent camp he got a year younger....i cant remember the details, but he was a really great trumpet player and DM, and he looked bad ### in that dm uniform.
  11. So the impression that I am getting is that I need to get seats on the 50, about 20-25 rows up? sounds like a deal. Thanks to everyone for the input.
  12. I am curious as to how the drum corps show was last year in the Georgia Dome. I am thinking of buying tickets for some friends down there, and I was wondering if it would be worth their time to watch it there. As in--does the dome have an adverse effect on the sound at all? too much? Just throw some thoughts out for me.
  13. I had marched for two seasons with a corps, and decided to stop marching. Around the first week of May I started to get an itch for drum corps and called up a different corps that was in close proximety and asked if they had any available spots for a contra player. I was surprised to find out that they had a couple, even though this corps was a perrenial finalist. I told them where I marched before, and they gave me the spot right then--no audition tape at all. It turned out to be a pretty sweet summer. Don't be arrogant about jumping into a corps this late, though. You are the late one. You have a lot to catch up on. I am really glad that I was given the chance to march again that summer...... good luck
  14. I think it has something to do with their cymbal line.......i think....
  15. Can we not use the same argument in saying that you were brainwashed to want amps and woodwinds? Take for example a member of the Cadets in 2006, if June came around and the staff said, we are going to have 4 charachters tell the story, and you are going to be the back drop for the show--including holding a bench for three minutes of the show-- or the Blue Stars who probably spoke through 2 minutes of that show. Do you think any of the members argued against that when it was insterted in? do you think that anyone is going to retaliate and leave after they have made it in the corps after January, or in the middle of June because they dont like that idea? Do you think that a member of the corps, the unit that has become one, that has been taught to think as one, that has been taught to do EXACTLY what the staff tells them to, is going to retaliate? in the middle of June? I know I didn't. I look back at the corps that I marched with and realized that some things we did just weren't effective, but we did it becasue we were told to, and we were all one so we did it together. Brainwashing? Ya we are all brainwashed. But when it comes down to it, too many are getting brainwashed in the wrong way and it is going to ruin the activity. long story short, your brainwashing argument sucks A $ $ .
  16. Not bad mouthing the corps at all but here is my hope (I am a Cadets fan, as well as a donor to the corps) : I really hope that in an effort to tell a story through narration (which i don't think is really necessary) they confuse the crap out of the MAJORITY of fans in the stands as they did last year. I respect beauty and art and trying to tell a story and all of that garbage, but instead of putting rabbits and school girls and saying things like "I swallowed that over an hour ago"out on the field with pink benches, just let the corps drop their balls and throw down a hella good show that the Cadets are known for. Show some balls Cadets, win back some fans. Just pull out 1997 and win with it. It was freakin awesome.
  17. From what I understand--which isn't that much, there were simply some organizational issues that ended up being quite dramatic towards the end of the summer. I don't know details, but it didn't sound like it was a tax thing, or some crime--just that they had to rework the organization from the director down. I may be wrong, and i am open to any others' input on this.
  18. I know that there are all sorts of weird circumstances causing the inactivity of Capital Regiment, but all that aside, I think it is a terrible shame that Capital Regiment will not be on the field in 2007. I have really enjoyed their past few productions, and admired the intensity of the young group that they usually bring to compete. Hope all works out for the best for them.
  19. It wasn't a sumb one....but I remember watching Ralph Hardimon judge one of our band contests years ago..... During the percussion feature he was just jammin and groovin and having a good time. THe tape explained it all.......if you can imagine Ralph's big deep voice " Oh ya baby, thats it..ooooooh ya baby.oooooooooooooooooooooohhhhhhhhhh yaaaaaaaa" It almost sounded like chef from south park. singing about the things he sings best about...... Ralph is freakin awesome
  20. So maybe I didn't think of what would happen when I used the word "hosed"...my bad. I guess i should just put it in terms of......I really don't think their drumline should have taken 12th place that night. In starting this thread, it was no disrespect to BK at all, in fact I think it was right up there on top of the list of awesome shows for 2006. I am thoroughly impressed with what Mark Arnold has done with the Denver crew.... All around, a very good year for drum corps..... and the brats in Madison were awesome.
