  1. Fantastic! Please join us at Buffalo Wings and Rings for the post show gathering. We have reserved the entire outside patio. BWRs is the corps' official eatery. BWRs is literally right down the road from North Port High School on the same street. BUT, if you want something different, we also have Applebees, Perkins, Beef O'Brady's, and Buffalo Wild Wings. There's more, but these are the biggies. However, I hope you join us instead. All participating corps have been invited. Buffalo Wings and Rings 1081 West Price Boulevard North Port, FL 34288 941-257-2100
  2. Well then I hope TBT accepts our invitation to INFERNO! 2011... You should check out the show this Saturday!

  4. The Sun Devils have only a few members that went from DCI to DCA. Most are and will be DCA to DCI back to DCA. Good thread and good discussion.
  5. Yep, we will be making the trek north to Jamestown for our first DCA competition of 2010! The sooner we get used to "bus butt", the better!
  6. The Curtain Closes on Act 1 ~ All the world's a stage, And all the men and women merely players ~ The first act of the Sun Devils 2010 season drew to a close Memorial Day weekend as the corps completed the drill learning process for their 2010 production, “A Night at the Globe”. Through a grueling three day schedule that included 32 hours of rehearsal in weather that included heat index readings over 100 degrees for hours at a time, the corps maintained a remarkable work ethic and hyped all the way through the two complete runs of the show that capped the weekend. The corps will spend the month of June preparing for its first public performance at Inferno!, the Florida Drum Corps Preview, taking place at North Port High School on June 26th, at 6:00pm. Admission is free (Donations will, of course, be accepted.) and the show will feature performances by the Bahia Shrine Drum and Bugle Corps and Florida Brass Alumni Drum and Bugle Corps, as well as the Sun Devils. Limited spots are still available in the corps. Interested parties should sign up through JOIN! in the main menu ASAP as these spots will be filled or closed shortly.
  7. Greetings from The Sun Devils Drum and Bugle Corps! The Sun Devils Drum and Bugle cordially invite you to INFERNO! 2010. INFERNO! 2010 will be held on June 26 at North Port High School in North Port, FL. INFERNO! 2010 will feature performances by the Bahia Shrine, Florida Brass, and the Sun Devils Drum and Bugle Corps. 8. I think he meant a member of DCA South, not the region per se. So yes you are correct, CG is from the South as well! Semantics...
  9. 60 sets on the field! Rumor has it that 18 sets of the closer are already written...
  10. Thank you! It was getting very difficult to read this thread. Just the status ma'am. Just the status.
  11. Me too. I thought that since I was a woodwind player that there would be no way that I could march in a junior corps. I had the opportunity to at least try out for...Phantom 96. Whoops. So it has been DCA all the way since 2000.
  12. With 50 sets already learned, we move on to our 3rd movement drill this weekend. Our offer still stands...if you are on vacation in Florida or you just happen to be here, please stop by! Our doors are always open. And while you're at it, we have an opening for 1 mellophone. So come on out and fill our last brass spot. Then join the corps in our every Saturday tradition of Buffalo Wings and Rings. They know us by name! Saturday April 24th 9:00AM to 9:00PM Sunday April 25th 9:00AM to 5:00PM North Port High School 6400 W Price Blvd North Port, FL 34291 See you there! *edited for grammar.
  13. As I stated in my last short report, I have retrieved some video from our last rehearsal. It has been posted here: Please excuse the audio/video synch issue. I think the point still gets across. Enjoy!
  14. As of 4/14/2010 - The Sun Devils do not intend to move to Open Class for the 2010 season. If there is a major change, I will personally let the DCP community know.
  15. Wow - 2010 will be one for the history books. I am saddened to hear about MCL, but hopeful for a speedy return. I was in attendance at their first DCA South meeting a few years ago. Lots of good ideas have come to fruition from that very meeting. i.e. Music City Metal
  16. The corps had a GREAT weekend! Movement 2 (playing and marching) is on the field! I also know that someone took video of the corps on stage practicing the opener. I'll see if I can get a copy and post it here. A full April camp report will be provided at the end of the month. Have a great April everyone!
  17. The Sun Devils Drum and Bugle Corps will be holding camp this weekend (tomorrow). Saturday April 10th 9:00AM to 9:00PM Sunday April 11th 9:00AM to 5:00PM North Port High School 6400 W Price Blvd North Port, FL 34291 All drill to movement two of, "A Night at the Globe" will be learned this weekend. The weather looks great with highs in the lower 80s all weekend long! The Sun Devils always have the welcome mat rolled out for you! If you are vacationing in Florida and we have a camp, stop by and say hi. And most definitely if you are musician, stop by and stay a while. You will have a spot with your new Sun Devils family! Go SUN DEVILS!
  18. The very FIRST Sun Devils baby was born on 3/31/2010 to our Executive Director and wife, John and Tammy Hoekstra. Rachel Renae Hoekstra will take her place in history as the first Sun Devils baby! She was born at 8:37am, 3/31/10. Weighing in at 6lbs 8 oz, 19 inches long. Tammy is doing great, and everything went perfectly. As an added bonus....one of the nurses is a band mom, and played Gainesville High School's (where John is the drill writer) Championship show from 2 years ago; Harmonic Journey. Please join us in welcoming Rachel to the world. And don't worry. Rachel already has her dot book and show memorized. She's good to go.
  19. The site looks awesome! It gave me some ideas for ours Looking forward to 2011. Let me be the first to put it out there: come on down to North Port and we'll drive on up to Tampa. It is going to be great to have another competitive corps here in Florida. I-75 won't know what happened. See you on the 50...in 2011!
  20. Lots of power for only having it for an hour. Can't wait to see it all this summer!
  21. I am not making a command statement here. I am basing this off of what Tom just posted. Based on assumptions and statuses from last season; DCA 2010 could potentially look like this: Open Alliance Buccaneers Bushwackers Caballeros CorpsVets Empire Statesmen Kiltiies Hurricanes Minnesota Brass Music City Legend Renegades International Open Kidsgrove Scouts Class A Carolina Gold Excelsior Fusion Core Govenaires Grenadiers Gulf Coast Sound High Country Brass Shenandoah Sound Skyliners So Cal Dream Sounds of Philadelphia Sun Devils Sunrisers Vigilantes White Sabers If it goes down this way, Class A will be VERY fun to watch unfold.
