  1. I may have found someone with an MP3 recording, but I am still searching for a video. Thanks guys!
  2. Yeah, that would help! Duh! Looking for 1987 We did a Buddy Rich show, with some screamin' sop's.
  3. This is a shot in the dark, but here it goes. my first year marching I marched with the Spartans, from Vancouver Wa. I marched many years after that with other groups, but this is the only year I don't have a recording of. If anyone out there has an audio, or better yet video recording of this group, I would love to talk to you, and figure out a way to get a copy. Thanks -Lane
  4. Coupld you send me my freakin' Champs DVD's now instead of Christmas? I am going through withdrawls here!!!!!! HOOK A BROTHA UP! :sshh: PLEASE!?!?!?!??!
  5. I will give my vote to what I feel is the most under-rated show of all time. 1992 Cadets. That chart was a super ##### to get clean. i feel if it wasn't for the wave of flu that took them off the field to clean early in the season they would have easily won that year. If you rememeber they were loosing, and big time early on, because the book was so hard, and they had to take about a week off to get well after the whole corps was puking and sh**ing. Then came in second by .5. One more week, and they, not Cavies would have been world champs that year.
  6. Star, both 91 and 92 good lord! but my favorite would be Cadets 92. To tame the peralous melo book. notes every where! Loved it!
  7. I'm sure nobody remembers this, but in 1987 the Vancouver Spartans had a horn line that could blow down the walls. Three screamers that could hit notes only dogs could hear. Plus the Buddy Rich show music just kicked some major ###.
  8. The Marauders from Longview Washington The kings of the weird show concept.......
  9. Thanks for the kind words. It was a pretty cool show, and kinda fun to "act" like I was a pirate for the show, and retreat. What years did you march Bluecoats? I have some very fond memories of the 87 season with your corps, back when I was marching with the Spartans from Washington.
  10. Thanks man. I had more fun marching with my friends in Marauders. I miss it so much. It's nice to know other people still remembers us, even if we weren't in finals. B)
  11. My first year marching, (Spartans, from Washington) I remember watching Bluecoats push to make finals. It seemed that there schedule and ours were the same all summer. We even had a free afternoon at a public swimming pool in Alabama together. Each core did a singing run-through in the pool for the other. What a hoot! All that being said, here is my choice. Bluecoats 1987 "Automn Leaves" Great tune, great solo's made it to finals for the first time. I wasn't a memeber, but I couldn't have been more excited for them.
  12. Hey now! I was the drum major from Marauders in 92, and I didn't think I was that scary looking. ^0^ How ever, I do still get called Captain Blood from time to time by people that remember that far back.
  13. Well, I went down to the tiny berg of Mount Angel last night to check out the corps and see a few friends. Here is what I thought. First stop, horn warm up. They sound good, not great, but good. Low brass is really good. However this makes for a little unballenced sound for me. If the high brass catch up, look out. they will be blowing down doors. Now for the show. First Kurt got up and talked to everyone in the stands about the corps and the show. Can you say rude people? He had no Mic, but if everyone there would have been polite and shut the #### up we all could have heard him just fine. Since when is it acceoptable to talk when someone is trying to address you, and even worse, put a muzzle on your brats. It's bad enough that they are not being taught how to be a good audience member, but to ruin everyone elses chance of hearing is not cool. (okay, end of rant) Well, let's get this out of the way first. Yes, there is narration. I am told by Kurt, that is is a part of the original piece. True or not, i hated it. I really try to have an open mind about this stuff, but to me, I felt like they were calling me dumb, by telling me what the show was about. I'm a big boy, I can figure it out. It was more a distraction that anything to me. Cut the narration, and I really would have liked this show. The opener is great! the stands were to low to get a good read on drill, but they are moving. It's powerful, and loud, and perfect for there show concept. (flight) The horns really carry this section. the gaurd is good, but not up to the level of the horns and drums. Which is to be expected. Second tune is also good, but not as moving as the opener. the drums sounded great here, and were really doing a great job with this tune. There Caption head Rob Lewis and I marched together in The early 90's and it's great to see him out there teaching at this level. He doing a great job with this group of kids. Okay, now for Stairway To Heaven. I was really soked to hear this. I wanted it to be great, and to rock the dump. But...... not so much. DIRTY horns, arraingement that really made no sence to me, and at the end when they parked and rocked out, it sounded like mud. Now this could just be the vantage point I was at. Small stands, on the 35 yard line side two. How ever, it was not good to me at all. I'm sure by San Antonio when I see them again, it will be rockin' Closer was good, a recap of the show and did a great job of building to the end. Had a few marching issues, saw a couple kids go down, but it's early. All in all it's a good show. I need another read from a good stadium to really tell you if this is a top 12 package, but the kids are performing it well for June. I wish them well, and hope they do great this summer. PS That was my first review, hope it didn't suck PPS Kank the narration bit Seattle, you don't need it.
