  1. I know this is self serving, but I am going to have to go with Marauders 92. Entire guard with HUGE sails coming up though the horn line, HUGE horn sound, followed by the jolly roger dropped from each sail on the last chord. I et goose bumps every time I watch it. Not sure if anyone remembers that show, but it was a blast to perform.
  2. First year I marched was 87, then I aged out in 92. I know I am biased, but those are a couple pretty good years IMO.
  3. Glad to see you are sharpening your skills before you shoot my wedding! Looks great Nate!
  4. 87 Marauders! If you were around then, you know what I am talking about!
  5. Zeke, how can I get a copy of that tape? That show is one of my all time fav's. The crowd went ape sh_t for sure. An all time great show! -Lane
  6. I would have to say Marauders 92' Oh.... wait.... did that. Then I would have to say 2000 Cadets, or 08 Phantom. -Lane
  7. There is a new Facebook group for Marauders alums. It has been great fun to catch up with old friends, but we ned more people. Come find us on Facebook, and and if you are not a facebook person, do it anyway. It's free and easy to set up! WOOT! -Lane
  8. Thanks Fishbone, it was a fun show for sure.
  9. It's funny, we marched the exact same years, only different corps...... My fav's Marauders Duh..... marched there Freelancers Chad Humolt was a great DM Cadets Xmen VK Devils baby
  10. In 91, at semi's we (Marauders) were going on the field, and setting up, and I noticed the freakin drum line was missing. I was the DM and I was dragging my feet, with the warm up, set up, etc. Then, over the loud speaker..." Drum Major Lane Anthony, is your corps ready?" The drum live comes running there ##### off onto the field. I wait till they get close to there opeing spots, turn around salute, and start the show. I was scared out of my mind that we would have to go with out them. Turned out to be a pretty crappy run... go figure.
  11. I'll be there Friday and Saturday. going to hang out with my friends at Crossmen on Friday. I will be cheering for The Cadets, and Crossmen, but I suport all the groups. This will be my first finals since 99, and I am so stoked. Not sure where my seats are, they are at home, but I will be there, and having a great time! Lane Anthony
  12. I am with you. I have done the all day marathon too, and it is a great day of Drum Corps! the open class is very entertaining. GO OREGON CRUSADERS!
  13. One thing I don't regret.... After I didn't take my chance to march BD I comitted to my local corps, and gave it my all. I will never regret ageing out with the Marauders. If more people would have done the same thing they may have pushed for a finals spot at some point. To bad so many people bolted south and east to "march with a contender" I regret not having a chance to march in a Wayne D. line, but will never regret my time and friends from Marauders! -Lane
  14. I know I am Biased, but not one vote or mention of The Marauders? Sad day. Aside from that, I would love to see the Freelancers come back. Such a great corps, so many great shows. I remember in 90 when we were doing our prince and the dragon show our opener was from the new (at the time) Batman movie. Then in Woodburn I think, I heard Freelancers horn line warming up, and what did I hear? Music from Batman. I knew we were in BIG trouble after I heard them, compared to us. What a cool show that was! -Lane
  15. I just remember loving your show both those years. In 87 down south, might have been Ak, or AL, we had a half day off, and we went to the local public pool, and you guys were there. Met some great folks, and we both tried to do run throughs for each other, and people in the deap end struggld. it was a riot. What a great day, and good memory. We pulled for you guys all year to get into finals, and we were so happy for you all. Lane BTW I was marching Spartans from Vancouver Washington that year in the drum line..... good times.....
  16. Okay, now that is funny. I have one more..... as young kid I chose play clarinet, only because my older bother played trunpet (the instrament I really wanted to play) and I hated him so much I wanted anything as far away from what he was doing. Years later, he quit playing and I learned to play cymbals, bass drum and be Drum Major to get into and stay in corps. I still think I would have been a screamin' Sop player.....
  17. 1987. Madison.... Friday night I went with friends to see about getting ummm, "koolaid" instead of watching the show. In retrospect, now as an adult I would give anything (almost) to go back and see those shows just one more time. Also, in 91 when Wayne offered to teach me to play Baritone, and offered me a spot in the BD line after I tried out for DM and lost out because I was going to school and couldn't move down until early June. I should have either said yes, or, dropped school for one term to go have the experience of being in a top 3 corps. anyone else have any Drum Corps regrets?
  18. Okay, Northwest Corps peeps. Lets get kick this thing up a notch. If you are in, or an alum of a Northwest corps, lets all send in a buck or too. I know you are out there, lets help Teal out! I did my part, now lets see the flood gates open..........
  19. Matched plus $1, I couldn't let a Skyryder, out do an old Marauder now could I?
  20. I'll be there. First finals since 99. I am really looking forward to it.
  21. Good question, and I have the answer. I was watching them in Oregon and saw the same thing, so i asked the visual guy. He said it was for a few reasons. 1. squares there shoulders to the front side line. 2. helps the performers with there projection. IE: peforming up and out to the stands, and not down at the grass. 3. Opens the chest cavity to get more air, and expand the lungs, so when they do have the horns they have more gas. Pretty cool, and I am going to use this in the fall..... -Lane
