  1. I predict there will be 12 corps participating in finals with only one corps winning.
  2. "12 seconds to the moon" was 96. That was magic's best year. Great sound and visual.
  3. Where do you begin..... Scouts 1975 BD 1976 Garfield 1984 ??? BD 1986 SCV 1989 Cadets 1990 Star 1990!!!!!!!! Star 1991 Cadets 1993 Scouts 1995!!!!!!! Scouts 1997 Scouts 1999 Cavies 2000 Phantom 2001 SCV 2004
  4. Cavaliers 1994...... well, according to Michael Cesario ...... Oops, did I just mention him on here, sorry.
  5. Even though none of these seem to compare the scouts, I have another one.... Crossmen 97 and 03. The end of those were fair. The Magic 98 chord isnt as long as posted, but I will check to confirm that.
  6. Santa, Please bring back full retreat at ALL shows. Please allow scouts alumni corps to perform on finals night. Also, please have more regional shows, about 10 more, to make it more accessible for everyone. :) P.S. Could you fill my extra large stocking with every DCI CD, DVD, Record, VHS tape, Cassette,..... ever made? Could you bring back the Northmen D&BC, ....... well, along with all the other corps that are no longer with us? Could I meet Jim Ott for a day?
  7. Uh, aaron, I believe Kevins comments was with sarcasm.
  8. I don't know...... AAaaaahhhhhhhhh....... I'll see if I can find out. Disc is in the car....... Man, I am pathetic.
  9. Star 86 is pretty long, but still does't come close to Scouts. Granted that Star could hold some incredibly long phases at full volume. 1990 is a great example of that. But, all of those are phases, not a single chord.
  10. I think Scouts get win, place and show on this: 1) 1997 - 25 seconds± 2) 2001 - 18 seconds± 3) 1980 - 20 seconds± I remember timing them before, so I think is correct. Yes, I obviously have no life other than corps. B)
  11. That's pretty much what I said earlier. George fine tuned it and if you watch carefully, you will see a star appear right before the final cross.
  12. Dear Santa, I would like for Troopers to march next summer.
  13. Personally, and I wish in one hand, would like to this thread go into a positive direction. It is so easy to be negative, but the question is, why do they do Irish? Pioneer is capable of producing great shows with thier tradition. They have done it before. I will say that they have had a dry spell where you can tell that things were not going the way they wanted. I am interested in seeing what direction they go this coming season. Another things is that it is very difficult sometimes for a Div 2 corps to move to Div 1. Crown, seattle and Blue Stars have, if I missed a couple recent corps forgive me, but Pioneer took thier own chances at moving up. I am not making excuses, but I am going to look at this with a bigger picture in mind. It is not in my best intrest to condemn a corps. I will speak of my likes and dislikes, but I try to make my criticisms positive. In short order, I would like people to post positive changes that Pioneer could make. What are some show concepts you think would work. I am going to try to move a river here. I would like to see people still post about pioneer but hopefully where its not so offensive. I can see where the previous post aren't offensive, but can be percieved that way. Well, fire away everyone, cause I am interested with what everyone can come up with. Just think, staff at Pioneer may be looking at all this and take in some suggestions just like any corps. Then again, someone may come here and help explain why they do things the way they do.
  14. I think a lot of the post agree with you, but they are also saying that if you find out it is not the place for you that you should be honest and tell the staff. Sometimes the staff will even help you get where you need to be. Meaning, where you will grow with your playing and as a person the most and where they feel that you would be most comfortable. So, to me, it just appears that everyone is saying in a different way, but we all agree that you should audition for where you believe you want to go.
  15. From what I gather from my Star friends that marched 1991, Zingali did not write the cross to cross ending. He told the marching members essentially, here is the first cross and here is the second cross and you can do what ever you want in between with 56 counts and change where you are in the last set if needed. If you look, every little group of eight people or so have thier own distinct personallity. But there is some irony to that show and his passing. You gotta know that he lives on and helping our current drill writers from time to time. The activity misses a man like him.
  16. There was Zingali and Brubaker. Everyone else seems to be following in thier footsteps. A lot of writers stem from those two and you see the influenced in the drill designs. Those two drill designers showed everyone that you can do almost anything with drill and broke through the comfort zone, sorry that I used the word zone, of most.
  17. See the thing is that people will post on here, and it doesn't read they way they intend it to, but I agree with you on this. But, I believe people should post thier thoughts, howvever, a little more thought should be put into a post so it may not come across as attacks. Pioneer is a great orginization. I would like to see sometime in this thread some positive things about pioneer, because right now, alot of the post come across as complaining or negative.
  18. If you wanted to, you could keep attending camp til around March. That is usually when corps want to know if you are in or out. You may find that the corps you don't like as much may grow on you, it may not and you go elsewhere. The staff at the corps know it, they would rather see you go where you feel comfortable instead of sticking it out and being unhappy. They want to make sure you buy into what they want to accomplish, even if that means you move on to the corps of your choice. The big thing, make sure you are going to march where you will be happy!!! And just remember this, just cause a corps is division 1 doesn't mean you will have a better or worse experience than marching in div 2. There are some excellent Div. 2 corps out there that have the respect of Div. 1. Heck, I marched in a Div. 3 corps my first year and would not change that for anything.
