  1. Yeah. It will look like the stage show from the end of "Revenge of the Nerds". ;)
  2. Badger....Badger???........ We don't need no stinking badger!!!
  3. I took a look at your uniform sketches.... pretty cool. Although, I thought that any group from texas, such as your texas tech concept, the hat was too small..... needs to be more like a 10 gallon bucket cowboy hat. B)
  4. My point of view from watching CR over the years: First off, I agree with the prior post..... Bryan was simply giving a historical point of view as he stated. He wanted people to know how CR emerged out of thin air. And just because it was stated that it was a break away from Limited Edition, the topic still remains to be about CR. I am sure being a passionate drum corps alumni that it was very difficult for him to write that. With that in mind as an outsider to CR, please give the man a break, it's hard enough on someone like him, let not open up old wounds. Secondly, When reading Bryan's initial post, he gave a pretty thorough history, and I for one really appreciated it. But if you notice at the end how it closes out giving CR his best wished for the future..... We as a drum corps community need to take in what was stated by him and move on. If there was anything in question about the post on any level, I am sure a press release or someone would have jump on here from DCI or CR to say something in defense. CR has been a respectable corps, and have experinced growing pains, and now they deserve the respect and support of the entire drum corps community as an organization. Whether Rick stays or leaves, it is ultimately about giving the members and corps as a whole the best experience they deserve. With that said, I don't have the link..... but there is location for testimonials from CR marching members. I encourage CR members of past and present to post great thoughts on there and on here. CR may have issues, let the CR and DCI handle those. I am sure it would mean a lot to the powers that be if they started to see the members lift up and take the same ownership now off the field that you had being on the field. And thats my $0.02 for now, and now back Bob Barker for our showcase showdown!!!
  5. I was thinking the same thing. They had the red tops and there was a lot of love in that corps.
  6. Everyone knows that VK had the two sided uniforms back in the day, ala 1992 red and white. Maybe they will go for a more traditional look and buy the Cadet 05-06 uniforms. Did I really just think of that, let alone say it.
  7. Nice dinner and cigar would be very nice..... I need to find a great cigar shop in Rochester or bring a bundle in a humi. Unfortunately, food is what some of us guys can only get on a regular basis. What a shame. Personally, I would not mind a spare rib platter while in Rochester.... Did I just say that.
  8. Yes, I can do something about and will come Feb. 3 so everyone can start thanking Mike now!!! Highly doubtful :P Yes..... I promise to bring Mike a lawn chair to the next rehersal to relax his legs for when he can't handle my next visual block!!! ^0^
  9. I can see 95, 96, 97. Although, a lot of people don't really care for the 97 show, it was a deep show that touched a lot of people and like Star's medea show, people are now starting to appreciate it and understand it. That show had a lot of depth and energy.
  10. 95 (deep purple) or 96 (blood red) Phantom 95 Vanguard, that seemed really differeont.
  11. I have Lux Arumque used as a warm up. Very nice. I think it should be a nice touch for them on the field this year.
  12. Well, everything is going to widescreen format. So, the full field view will truly become full field. At the same time, some DVD players can format the widesceen video to standard TV. The old players shrink the screen size to fit, but the new ones crop the sides. So, I can see widesreen benefitting everyone. Even the HD TV owners. If you have a standard HDTV, then you are still ok. Just another great selling point for the videos.
  13. There isn't a vote for a mix of black and white.... heheh. NONE OF THAT TAN!!!! Looked like a bad production of cowboys and indians, ya know, cut holes in the brown paper bag thing. I have always wondered what the scheme would be like if they wore all white for the 2001 show, Vituoso? Great show, by the way. I thought the Stravinsky show, 2000, should have been black.
  14. 1993 = death, violent, angry Cadets - Kings Go To War Star - Medea's Dance of Vengance PR - Death Hunt Cavaliers - Death Tree
  15. DCI had the recaps posted at one time..... star and bd tied in 91 and 93. there is no mention of a tie breaker.
  16. Who said they couldn't have half the corps in all white and the other half in all black??? Just a possibility.
  17. Dude, my bad. The year of the grey devils. Great year, but stupid me, I never remember it for some reason. I love that ending though.
  18. The DCI recordings have BD's semis performance which was clean. The BD throught the years CD's have the finals performance which has the, well....... ya know. That's what I was told when I bought them almost 10 years ago.
  19. If I were to rank BD shows musically, here are my picks in my order of preference: 1) 1993 - tie with Star for Brass 2) 1986 3) 1984 4) 2003 5) 1991 - tie with Star for brass 6) 1985 7) 1976 8) 1994 9) 1992 10) 2000 1993 was the last year of Old Skool Devs. 1994 was the beginning of a different sound and different uniforms. Since then, it has gone to a more symphonic jazz. As far as the 2005 show, I appreciated the last 2 minutes or so of music, when you take away the naration. The naration was a distraction from what was really going on. It was tug and war on the ears. I wanted to listen to the brass and drums, but I couldn't.
  20. I agree with you. I can see the sound board being off field and check balance. However, As the rules stand, there is no affiliation with a corps performance and the staff, even if a performer get injured. I remember seeing Cavies 02 in Kentucky. A contra got hurt and had to crawl to the goal line. Jeff Fiedler could not go on the field and help him off, nor could any staff. They had to wait. By the way, we don't let the visual staff go running amuck all over the field and checking out during a show if a group is performing what was rehersed. You don't see a percussion caption head going around with the on percussion judge. So, if the rule of a non-member to control a sound board goes into affect, there are other rules that should be considered or just road kill the proposal.
  21. Actually, this is typical. It has happened pretty much every year. Just cause a corps has a spot open doesn't mean they cant fill it. Some corps want you to come back to see how committed you are. Example, Cadets had 18 snares tryout and picked 9........ thus far. it did not say they cut the other 9. That tells me that they are willing to take another looksey at the next camp and see which of those 9 show the most imrovement. From that, they could make final decision. It's all part of the process. Cream always rises to the top, all in due time my friend.
