Legacy Drum & Bugle Corps will perform as a SOUND SPORT group during the 2026 Drum Corps International Season. Tom Maiello, Executive Director of Dream Performing Arts Academy, along with the organization’s Board of Directors have been working diligently on the corps start-up for three years, by developing and creating a strong foundation and infrastructure to assure a successful start to this group. “We have been working on all avenues to create an unforgettable experience for our students. Putting together an experienced board of directors, securing all musical equipment, along with the necessary facilities and qualified support staff, and then bringing in a top-notch, well known and respected educational team have been our most important priorities. Our beloved Lily Woo, a lifetime member of the New York Skyliners and a true hero, needs our support. Lily, along with her husband Ron, have been involved with the Skyliners for decades. Lily began her time with the field corps in 1981 and has participated both as a Mellophone player and member of the Honor Guard. She also was assistant drum major in 2005 and 2006. From our director, Josh Delanuez, "Lily has had an incredible impact to the New York Skyliners and also in her career field of education. Achieving Lifetime Membership status with the Skyliners as well as her many accomplishments to the students of New York add to the awe-inspiring and extraordinary person she is. Her passion for her work and effect on her community makes her so deserving of this life-saving treatment. On behalf of the Skyliners, we want to not only extend our well wishes for her health and healing but also a very happy birthday today. (February 11th)" She slept at PS 130 in Chinatown for three days until every family picked up their children, breathing in the aftermath dust. President George W. Bush came to her school in 2001 when he made his speech about the attacks and his resolve. In May of 2023, she was lucky enough to receive a donor kidney after a 5 year wait on the transplant list. December 11, 2022 Dear Shadow Friends and Family, Shadow Drum and Bugle Corps was founded and built on a tradition of excellence and education that stretches back to 1972. For 50 years, the Oregon High School Summer Marching Band took the field each summer, competing in every season since MACBDA's inception. In 2007, a winter guard and indoor percussion ensemble followed, with both winter ensembles distinguishing themselves with excellence in the sport. In 2008, the summer marching band became Shadow Armada. In 2016, our flagship program became Shadow Drum and Bugle Corps and was accepted into the vaunted ranks of Marching Music's Major League, Drum Corps International, having the unique distinction of being the only high school in the world with its own professional-level marching ensemble as the only high school in the United States to have a drum corps program. In 2019 Shadow Drum and Bugle Corps separated itself from the Oregon School District and became its own entity, continuing the successes of the history of the program. The corps was not active during 2020 due to the DCI season cancellation during the pandemic, hosted a virtual season in 2021, and took a pause in 2022 to reevaluate continuation. It is with a heavy heart that I announce that the board of directors for Shadow Marching Arts has made the difficult decision to end all operations in perpetuity. Over the next few months, the board will work to end its nonprofit status, liquidate its assets, and close its books. We take joy in knowing that the many videos and pictures from the past will keep the legacy of what Shadow was going, where the memories will keep Shadow alive to those that answered the question “Band who are you?” We thank you all for your support and encouragement. The Academy is excited to announce the posting of the position of Corps Director for The Academy Drum and Bugle Corps. On Thursday, August 18th, the Board of Directors gave the blessing to move forward with this strategic expansion of the administrative team for the flagship program of the Arizona Academy of the Performing Arts. For more than two decades, founding leader Mark Richardson has held the position of Executive Director for the organization while also serving as Corps Director for The Academy Drum and Bugle Corps. As the organization has grown, so have the challenges for maintaining and growing an active World Class corps. It has become clear that in order to operate a program and organization of this scale in the ever-evolving world, more administrative resources needed to be allocated in order to cover all bases on behalf of the entire organization. As Richardson remains at the helm of the overarching organization, the Corps Director will serve as the primary leader for all aspects of The Academy DBC and work to ensure that all aspects of the program are functioning effectively. This is a warning regarding FloMarching! If you have used a credit card or multiple credit cards to purchase FloMarching subscriptions, be forewarned; FloMarching is charging a subscription to every credit card number they have in their database. I used my Discover card for FloMarching 2 years ago and First Bank for the 2019 season. I have not authorized a 2020 subscription yet FloMarching charged both of my cards which are on file. I am disputing both to my banks as fraud.
