He continues to serve as a consultant for other local schools, teaching and writing for both music and visual captions. 2. I made a list of DCA Corps Open Houses and dates to aid in people finding more details. Please update with details once you have them and I'll edit the main post. I don't really know how to import a table so I'm just going with a bullet list. Here is the GOOGLE DRIVE SHEET : https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1bAqyTfrAe98lMS24xke_C1Bt4l7iKm16cZqdJd60H2k/edit?usp=sharing . DATES ARE IN BOLD | FOLLOW THE LINK FOR DETAILS I removed the bullet list below because it was too much to update. I've updated the list and added info from five more corps. I'll create some graphics and maybe a short video too.

  9. Hi Cadence are planning to bring merchandise with us when we spend two weeks in the USA this August. We are at the Big Sounds In Motion DCA Show (Reading, PA) and the DCA Championships (Williamsport, PA). We are looking for a volunteer to help with the merchandise tent at these two shows so that our parents can always enjoy the shows as some have never seen Drum Corps outside of the UK live before. Even if its just a few hours each show day it would be much appreciated, contact me if you can help out? Paul - Corps Manger info@cadenceperformingarts.org.uk
  10. Hi everyone, During these past few months, there has been a continuous line of drum corps going inactive because of issues that relates to recruitment of members, finances, and poor leadership by staff members of corps. Below is a list of all the corps that have gone inactive. Inactive Corps: Minnesota Brass - ( DCA Open Class ) - inactive as of 4/23/18 Kilties - ( DCA Class A ) - inactive as of 4/23/18 Alliance - ( DCA Open Class ) - inactive as of 2/21/18 Rocketeers - ( All Age Soundsport Group/ DCA Class A Applicant ) - inactive as of 4/17/18 Rivermen - ( Junior Soundsport Group ) - inactive as of 1/17/18 Appalachian Sound - ( Junior Soundsport Group ) - inactive as of 3/15/18 Lone Star - ( Junior Soundsport Group ) - inactive as of 3/19/18 These corps suffered from at least one of the situations listed above. I have recently been in touch with some corps that are looking to return to DCI Competition. However, these corps feel that at the moment, the problems that I have listed could potentially fall upon them. As a result of this, these corps are holding off efforts to get back into DCI competition. Below is list of corps that fall under this category. Teal Sound - World Class - hopes to return in near future. Doesn’t want to return yet because of the incident that happened with YEA. Spirit of Newark - Open Class - hopes to return in the near future. Cannot return yet due to lack of financial support. Racine Scouts - Open Class - hopes to return in the future. Making attempts to grow slowly back into DCI. Cannot return yet due to low membership numbers. We must do do everything we can to help promote the growth of these corps. Corps from all the competitive circuits are suffering and it is up to us to help them out. If you know someone who wants to march, please encourage them to do so. Make small financial donations whenever possible to help ensure the longetiviry of these corps. In the poll above, please vote for the way that plan to help/support drum corps.

  12. The Skyliners are pleased to announce that Timmy Allen has joined their staff as Visual Caption Head for the 2018 Season. Tim brings a lifetime of experience to the corps. His marching experience includes performing with the Rochester Crusaders, Syracuse Brigadiers, Connecticut Hurricanes, Magic of Orlando and Pioneer. He has designed and taught for The Ghost Riders, as well as a staff member for The White Sabers from 2012-2017, serving as ensemble coordinator and visual caption head in 2017. He is currently the Visual Caption Head and Winds and Front Ensemble co-arranger for the 2017 NYS Field Band Champion Corning-Painted Post High School Marching Band, as well as the Assistant Director and Front Ensemble Arranger for their indoor Percussion Ensemble. He attributes his success to growing up in a drum corps family, watching his dad, Donny, and his uncles, Tommy and Jimmy, as they have had a profound impact on the activity. “I am grateful for this opportunity to join an organization with such a rich history”, said Tim. “I am dedicating my work with The Skyliners this season to the memory of my Uncle Jim, who passed away last fall.” Also joining the staff as Color Guard designer and Instructor is Wendi Rogers Neumann. 13. March 22, 2018. The Board of Directors of the New York Skyliners. Inc., announces the retirement of Larry Carbonell, Director of The Skyliners Drum & Bugle Corps, effective immediately. On behalf of the Board and the entire organization, we want to thank Larry and his wife, Stephanie for their hard work and dedication over the last 5 years. During their tenure, they brought The Skyliners back to life and out onto the field of DCA competition starting with the 2014 season. There is no question that The Skyliners would not be where they are today without the Carbonells’ tireless efforts on behalf of the corps. We are pleased to announce that Jeff Crawford is taking over the Directorship and Business Manager positions at this time. Jeff has been on The Skyliner staff since the return of the corps in 2014, serving as Visual Caption Head for the last two seasons. The Board is confident that Jeff has all the passion and ability needed to lead The Skyliners forward, and we are all confident that the next chapter in our story will be exciting and rewarding for everyone. Jeff wrote, “I am truly honored and excited to have the opportunity to continue what Larry and Stephanie Carbonell have started.” Joshua Delanuez has been named a new Assistant Director, Recruiting Events Coordinator. He joins Assistant Directors Robert Fizette, Construction Support and Doreen Sandor, Publicity and Corps Historian; and Jim and Suzanne Shea, Personnel Managers, on the Administration. Additional announcements will be made as needed. Earlier this month, The Board of Directors elected Jim Shea, a Lifetime Member of The Skyliners, to fill the vacant Board position previously held by long-time Skyliner Ray Peters. Congratulations to Jim on this new role. Keep up-to-date with us via our website, http://www.MarchSky.org, or contact Joshua Delanuez via email at info@skylinersdbc.org for more information.
