Musical_Spinner
I still don't get what the big fuss is about Revo having a "big d3 corps" or drumline......Everything is bigger in Texas, or did you guys just forget?
Ranger Rick
Our percussion head has been adamant that the size of your ensemble in Div III is much less important than your balance. We could have easily marched 8-4-5 but are marching 6-3-5 instead for the sake of a good balance with the hornline. I see a lot of Div III groups sacrificing a good balance for the sake of pumping up their member size 5 or 6 ticks. Everyone gets more drumline auditionees, in every division. Bluecoats had something like 400 people audition, and something like 100 of them were after snare spots. But a smaller corps with a balance that's easy to maintain ("just have the drumline play at mp" is easier said than done) can push farther faster than a bigger one with a battery that's drowning out the horns every step of the way.
