Then and Now

Recommended Posts

Well, if you're really serious about getting back into DCA, I can only add my "Amen" to those (esp Tom Peashey) who've already advised you to do so.

I can say that during the last four years at Empire Statesmen there were members who were close to 60 years old out there playing horn and doing drill, while placing in the Top 2. There were also members who had never played an instrument before, let alone a long time ago. I've seen it elsewhere, too.

How about an inspirational quote?

"'Tis better to have loved and lost, than never to have loved at all."

If that's too long, try this:

"Life's short. Play hard."

Go for it. No shame in chasing after a goal full throttle and falling short. And, it's certainly better than not having gotten up off the couch in the first place. At the very least, you'll make new friends and get into better shape. Maybe they'll have a job that you can do for them.
