DDANN
I am curious would be out of line be competing with another corps also and being apart of Bridgemen, in the same season??? What answer are you expecting? Of course you could march in two corps. But since there will obviously be conflicts in the schedule one corps will have to take precedence. For the last three years I have marched in both Scout House and Bridgemen but these are both alumni corps and I have always made it clear that Bridgemen have been my priority. Strangely enough in the last three years there has never been a serious conflict in their schedules although on three ocassions both corps have been at the same show. Luckily there has always been at least one other corps scheduled in between so I have been able to march with both on the same day. In 2005 when Bridgemen were first getting started there were several "original" Bridgemen who marched in our shows and parades but in 2006, when the corps went to a full field show, quite a few of these guys/gals were involved in competitive corps and had to leave. In 2006 a couple of them came back because the competitive schedule was just too demanding. But the bottom line in both 2005 and 2006 was they had to choose one or the other. Unfortunately in 2008 I have decided to leave Scout House because giving both my full attention has just become too difficult. If you're in a competitive corps that rehearses at least once a week and has contests all summer this corp would obviously have to be your first priority. So how fair would that be to the Bridgemen? Mom2ZJ
I marched in the St. Andrew's Kidets and Bayonne Bridgemen from '74 to '84, so I am one of the "originals" being referenced in the earlier reply that marched the Bridgemen alumni corps in 2005, ... but then returned to the Bushwackers Senior Corps in the summer of 2006 to go back to competing ... so yes, I had to prioritize within my own life and consider what I wanted most .... It wouldn't be fair to either corps if a person does that because you're going to end up short-changing one corps or another ... B) which, by the way, I'd never go back to the Bridgemen Alumni Corps ... too many things making that decision, but ... yeah, you've got to do what's right ... for you ... Mom2ZJ
there were several "original" Bridgemen who marched in our shows and parades but in 2006 don't understand why the word original is in quotes in this response ... I mean, there were a good number of us who did march in the original Bridgemen Drum & Bugle Corps in DCI, so ... still don't get it .... *shrug*
