mvbailey12
I was trying to remember if a corps has ever done any AC/DC tunes. I did not look on corpsreps.com but I cannot think of any. If you had your way, choose the following: 1) What songs they would play? - Top 4 2) What corps would do it? 3) What would be the order of songs? 4) Could there be any design to it? I would pick Pioneer (just to step out for a moment - Angus & Malcolm Young are from Scotland - there is the correlation) There guard uni's could be all short pants, school blazers & beenies. I would choose the following for songs: Opener - Back In Black Drum feature - Thunderstruck Ballad - Whole Lotta Rosie Closer - Shook Me All Night Long If Phantom ever went "Back in Black" uni's - this would be a cool way to open the show! Just my thought!
liebot
Hahaha, wow... No, I don't think anyone's ever done AC/DC before. I don't think it will ever happen. I have a really strong association with AC/DC - my residential college at Rice has "Back in Black" as its theme song, meaning I've heard it at least twice a week every week I've been here... so I don't even like that song anymore. That said, the intro to "Hells Bells" could be cool if arranged properly.
Ranger Rick
AC/DC is obnoxiously simple music. Corps are looking for complexity these days. There are better groups for corps to think about playing if they want classic rock.
BlueByYou2000
Not sure any Drum Corps would be happy with playing a total of 3 chords in all there songs. AC/DC is about as simple of music that has ever been done. It would take some masterful arranging to get AC/DC to work on the field.
toddschultz
I think it could work, and here's why. Is it simple. Yes. Are most corps as people have pointed out doing more complex music, mostly. But...each time a corps does a piece of music, do they always stay true to the source material, no. Do they change around chordal structure, yes. Do they re-invent many of the pieces, often beyond original recognition, all the time! So, if you had the right arranger, and they were creative enough, it would work. Example-Scouts 2007 version of Kashmir, not at all like the original, other than a few moments. Wayne Downey re-invents music all the time, and it works. So, right arranger, YES it would work. Wrong arranger, will fail miserably, but then again, I think that would go with ANY show.
xbones7480
I think a Metallica show would be better. I can think of a few of their songs that would sound cool on the field.
Einstein On The Beach
I just came back from a marching band competition where the groups played nothing but Michael Jackson, Bon Jovi and Earth Wind and Fire. I think that's where that stuff should stay.
kusankusho
Dutch Boy did a short excerpt from "Thunderstruck" in 2004. Nice keyboard lick actually....

Rocketman
Corps are looking for complexity these days. Since when? When did 2 bars of music and a two minute drum solo become complex? While AC/DC may be "simplistic," since few corps actually play complete pieces, it'd probably be too hard for them anyway! RM - Yeah, I went there, so flame on! ampssuck
