bariforhire
Somehow, without thinking, the 1963 show gets the majority of St. Joes Rep this year.Last year we returned to use Coz's arrangement of "Something's Coming" with the Broadway fanfare that the corps was noted for in the sixties. This year, we wanted to put a "color pre" of sorts back into the show and "The House I Live In" was a pick of the staff. Then Sully said he wanted to do a true St. Joe's concert, and since Big Spender has been "spent"...the next choice was "My Shawl"...(Xavier Cugat's theme). I try to keep the arrangements as close to the oiriginal as I can and then add some juicy parts to it...This stuff is vintage Coz! And it is fun music to play loud. LOL It just worked out that this was the first half of the 1963 show. We are inviting the old St. Joe's original Alumni back to relive those glory years... Donny. Coz was great, but I hated playing all those whole notes back in 63, LOL. Where did you say my invite was Donny? I know, I won't hold my breath. Believe me there wasn't a ton of whole notes in the bari parts I ripped from that chart...but there is a lot of left hand Coz rhythms...LOL. eighth note rest 2 sixteenths on beat one, 2 eighth notes on beat 2, eighth note rest and upbeat eighth notes on 3 and 4...as I said VINTAGE COZ!!!
