Rosander Returns to SCV as a Performance Consultant

October 29, 2007

After a two year absence, the 2008 season will mark the return of Myron Rosander to the Santa Clara Vanguard. As a previous performer, instructor, designer and Assistant Corps Director, Myron will be entering his twenty-seventh year with the Vanguard, the longest tenure of any performer and instructor in the organization's history.

Although his contribution will be severely limited due to illness, Myron will focus strictly on the performance qualities of the Vanguard and the Vanguard Cadets whenever possible. He will remain on the administrative side of operations and report to the Director. His two main areas of evaluation are to help develop the corps range of emotional unity and overall connection with the audience. Rosander will relate the historical significance of the Vanguard's past and discuss how these events have shaped the present and beyond. By strengthening the historical foundation, this will provide a natural springboard toward excellence and artistry that have been a cornerstone of SCV for several decades.

Always enthusiastic toward SCV, Myron was the recipient of the "Gail Royer Memorial Vanguard of the Year" award in 2000 and was routinely regarded as a motivator of the highest caliber. Myron will take these past experiences to help contribute a renewed sense of focus to his storied association with Santa Clara. As always, Rosander will continue to be inspired by some of the original masters such as Fred Sanford, Ralph Hardimon, Pete Emmons, Charlie Anderson and the legend himself, Gail Royer.

Pending medical clearance, Myron hopes to reach the 2008 performers in his unique philosophical manner and to further support everyone involved in this great organization. With that said, the Santa Clara Vanguard would like to welcome Myron Rosander home for his twenty-seventh season; one that promises to be filled with emotion and excellence in that inimitable SCV style.

cool that at the least, his influence will be with the corps this summer, something that i feel was definitively missing from their recent productions. happy that they even reference "developing the corps range of emotional unity and overall connection with the audience," especially as it relates to the corps' storied past.

Myron is a great guy. I'm sure he did this at Vanguard, but he has some of the best post-lights-out motivational speeches ever. It sucked that he didn't get to stay at Madison long because he was genuinely excited to be there, and sometimes it was like he knew more about what it was to be a Scout than we did.
