I agree. I'd seen BD all second tour and thought they would walk with it. But the Boys totally pwned everyone that night.

I believe I can shed a little light here. I just got off the phone

with Scott Stewart. I talk to him about once every 3-4 weeks.

I asked him about what happened in 89 because I do remember

staff addressing us on the day of Semis about the TV situation.

Here's what Scott told me. After Quarters, the DCI

directors had a quick meeting - Scott was there. The other top 5 directors told him that they

didn't feel like Madison was good enough for TV coverage and it wouldn't be

fair for a top 5 corps (like Cadets) to get dropped off of the telecast to have Madison

perform last as defending champ. So they voted to have us dropped from the coverage at the

last minute. This is from the man himself.

So, other than Hopkins who were those other 4 directors?

From 1989 that would have been Royer, Moxley, Degrawe, and St. Angel

So in other words DCI was sticking it to Scott even in the 80's.

It wasn't like they were battling for the 11 or 12 spot.

Yeah, at that point in the season it should have been more than apparent that Madison was good enough for a tv slot. Very sad how this evidently played out.

Wow. So 5 people (6 if you count Pesceone) made a decision for the entire activity. Is there anyone out there that still doubts this one? Makes you wonder about other conspiracy theories you've heard about in DCI. And it's not just about Hopkins. Royer was in on this??

Well I don't know specifically how or if Mr. Royer was involved - he and Scott were actually

good friends. What Scott said was that there was a meeting with the top 5 directors

and the descision was made to not let us perform last. He didn't say who was the spokesman.

Pesceone was not involved in that descision by the way. It was the Corps Directors.

I also don't want to turn this into an anti-DCI rant

or conspiracy thing. I was upset with their descision, but I don't think they were doing it

specifically to stick it to us. And I don't think there's any grand conspiracy to slight anybody

in the activity now. I think it's just a matter of people being people. They sometimes make

quick descisions in the heat of the moment that may not always be the right descision.

Glad you called him, was going to bring it up with him soon.
