Wouldn't it Be Nice

Recommended Posts

Wouldn't it be nice if we were older?

Then we wouldn't have to wait so long

And wouldn't it be nice to live together

In the kind of world where we belong

You know its gonna make it that much better

When we can say goodnight and stay together

.......

You know it seems the more we talk about it

It only makes it worse to live without it

But let's talk about it...

Wouldn't it be nice?

Here I changed it a bit… The phrasing is a bit strange in places but you musical geniuses should be able to figure it out.

Wouldn't it be nice if we were younger

Then we all could march in junior corps

And wouldn't it be nice to march together

In the kind of world where we belong

I can deal with “busface” so much better

When you say that we can sit together

Wouldn't it be nice if we could practice

In the desert heat so hot it kills

And sitting on a bus with no A-C

And the girl in front won’t shut up still

The food truck broke again and didn’t make it

The fast food store is packed we’ll have to take it

Wouldn’t that be nice…

Wouldn't it be nice if we made finals

And we got to march in the night show

before the winners got to re-played their show

We would leave our shoes when we would go

The silent bus ride home we’d be spending

Every hour out the window we’d be staring

Wondering how nice…

Maybe if, in twenty years or more Al Gore invents the in-ter-net…

And some guys, start to post their stories, ya know they might I bet….

Then we could be blogging, and then we’d happy

Wouldn’t it be nice…

You know it seems the more I read these blog threads.

there’s no way around it that Drums corps is dead.

So get that out of your head

Wouldn’t it be nice…

Yes, but you need more than the 20 corps that are left for three great shows.

That is the root real problem DCI has. Not amps/voice/corps size, any of that. They want a national touring schedule over 8 weeks. And costs are going up. Fans are not going to keep shelling out $40 a seat for a 5 corps show.

To paraphrase what Nikk used to say in his sig block ' the activity is dying with not a roar but a whimper'

The crop was changed every year, seemingly without regard for the condition of the soil. Little to no money was used to improve the underlying conditions and it became increasingly expensive to till the soil every year. The result of this is that each year's crop yield was less than the prior year(fewer plants survived). We let it go so long, that now we don't have enough money for fertilizer (of the TV composition).

The truly great harvests are now gone, and we are stuggling just to survive.

Sounds as if you're saying DCI let drum corps wither and left it to die.

To which some people seriously would say. "It's not dead - just resting". Most of us would mockingly say that with our best Monty Python accent.

I think the idea of "fertilizer" is right on!
