musicpal24
Does anyone know why the pre-2000 VPD's cost as much as the 2000's, or if it will change to match the price point of the Legacy years any time soon?
ToferVis
because DCI likes money. Lots of money.

scottgordon
I'm not sure I understand the question - are the older shows worth less?
BozzlyB
I'm not sure I understand the question - are the older shows worth less? Definitely not, but the argument could be made that the audio video quality of recording/taping goes down the farther back you go.
LAMystreaux
I would assume the old supply & demand theory.
Michael Boo
because DCI likes money. Lots of money. Someone will correct me if I'm wrong, but I thought all proceeds went to the individual corps that are downloaded.
ckomnick
Michael: That is correct. Monies collected from corps performances (audio and video) primarily go back to the individual corps. DCI fronted the expenses to develop the underlying media infrastructure and leases the bandwidth for downloads. A portion of the fees collected goes back to DCI to pay for those expenses, but the majority of the revenues goes back to the corps themselves. I encourage everyone to download as much as possible. You get a great product and the corps you like get supported financially.
scottgordon
Definitely not, but the argument could be made that the audio video quality of recording/taping goes down the farther back you go. Which is why I would expect some of them to require more work to restore and make sound good.
Michael Boo
Tom Blair did countless hours of work on the older shows when the Legacy Series came out to get as much out of the audio as possible and to better synch the audio to the visual. I believe that if there was a way any show could be improved with his engineering, he did it.
