"With a double Effect panel, each judge will be responsible for only 10 percent of the total score, instead of some getting 20 percent."

"Maybe it's just me but I'm having a hard time figuring out how 11 judges each account for 10% of the score.

Boom

Boom

There are two percussion judges and they split the 10% for percussion. So 9 judges have 10% each and 2 judges have 5% each.

I guess DCI saved more money than they thought during the first couple weeks of the season when they just used 5 judges.

I'm curious, did anyone know about this in advance of this announcement? Seems like a pretty big decision that had to be in the works for some time and probably had to be communicated to the corps directors awhile ago....but maybe not.

I wrote about it on DCI.org when the decision was made at the Annual Meeting in Orlando in January.

Check DCI.org sometime later today. We're planning a video interview with Judges Administrator John Phillip, explaining how the recaps work.
