dtdrum4485
I was speaking to a friend of mine last night, and he brought this question up, however, neither of us knew the answer to this question. I would like to preface this by saying this has nothing to do with the scores received last night, or at any other point during this season, just a matter of looking for clarification on the issue for personal knowledge. In USSBA/TOB, the caption is called General Effect, and to the best of my knowledge, the definition of that caption is how the visual package and musical package relate to each other in an effort to "move" the audience. In DCA, they are two captions: Music Effect and Visual Effect. Are these separate entities in DCA? Is ME asking how well the music "moves" the audience, and VE how well the visual "moves" the audience? With or without relationship to the other? I apologize if this seems like a stupid question, and I would again like to point out that this has nothing to do with any scores received at any point this season. It's just a matter of trying to fill the gap in my personal knowledge of the operation of the activity as a whole.
Jeff Ream
I'd imagine there is some bleed over in terms of how the coordination between the two elements work together. I mean prety much every GE sheet out there factors that on. TOB FYI has seperate vidual and music GE sheets, as does DCI
dtdrum4485
TOB FYI has seperate vidual and music GE sheets, as does DCI My bad. I've been out of TOB for a few years now, so I was afraid I may not have gotten those facts straight. Thanks.
davhen
Both Vis and Music GE judges expect there to be a level of coordination between the two. Seperate sheets allows for closer scrutiny of these captions, and hopefully higher quality feedback, by having a specialist from each caption. hurcwave
DCA had GE captions plus other numerous ensemble captions thru the years. They combined the GE Perc and Brass to become the Music Effect caption. I believe Visual Effect is the combination of the old Visual Analysis and GE Visual ANd yes, there will be some bleed over, (dave henry get back to band camp !! )
