I mean, they aren't really there, in front of you, so what's the point? Applause is meant to show one's appreciation towards the performers, and if the performers are not there, there is no need to clap. However, if you feel the need to clap at the end of the performances, be my guest. I'm not gonna look at anyone funny, but I'll be thinking, "How pointless..." To each his/her own.
