Cavaliers Pitch bending question

Recommended Posts

I love pitch bending in general and the Cavaliers subjected me to about 30 seconds of heaven. It was great. Thank you.

My question is, were they pitch bending through their slide or through their embouchure? I'm guessing their slides because now that we're on 3 valves, its harder to pitch bend the way you used to be able to.

Its not THAT hard bend on a three valve (IMO)...possibly a combination of both.

probably embrochure.

plenty of corps do it during their brass warmups. it's really not that hard at all, to be honest. phantom seems to be the corps that's most well known for doing it in the lot. it was a cool effect in the cavies show this year though, i suppose.

At the Atlanta audition camp I went to they had us do pitch bending via embouchure as part of the warm-up... so I could see them doing that in the show as well.

Edit: nevermind.....my intuition was right (embouchure!)

I dont really see why it was soooo cool... I mean, we did that every day during warm-ups when I marched in 2000... just used it to try to get our pitch centered better... Guess it was just me...

I think it's the fact they did it on the move that makes people ooh and aah... but maybe I'm wrong, Idunno.
