I don't want this to take away from this thread, because it could be one of its own.

But who was the first corps to use bingo as a fundraiser. Granted not all corps are allowed to bingo, but it seems to be the most successful.

Once I heard that Fielder was coming on board at SCV I knew it would be the needed shot in the Arm for the Organization. And if there was ever a time they needed it would be now in Lieu of this pending issue with gaming here in the State of California.

Back on topic ...

THANK YOU for all of you that have acted on this. If this bill goes through it could SEVERELY AFFECT the financial condition of The Blue Devils, and it won't help SCV either!

Next please go to digg.com and click "digg it" ...

THANKS AGAIN!

Hey Jeff, didn't you Bingo get it a few years ago when a Indian reservation in your area got permission to have their own bingo or casino ?

This is a real kick in the head.:smile:

Would a letter to Mr. Schwartzenager (sp) be of any help ?

I've faxed Gov. Arnie ... please do the same!

This situation makes a kick-in-the-head look desireable. :(

Also ... thank you to John Donovan for putting this story on the front page of DCP!

It's spelled "Governator"...

Yes, a letter to Arnold would be appropriate as well as the local reps for your area.

Well the good news is that we have a good amount of time to rally against this bill...The Gov has stated he WILL NOT sign the bill if it's passed until they come up with a budget for the state..And that could be a while..Here's a response from Governor Schwarzenegger which I got from the SCV Alumni:

Thank you for sharing your thoughts about SB 1369. I appreciate

your passion, and I always love getting input from my fellow

Californians.

California, however, is now the only state in the nation without a

budget, and it will only become harder for the state to function as

our stalemate continues. Because I know that California deserves

better, I won't sign any bills until the Legislature passes a

budget. We are now almost two months into the new fiscal year. The

legislators have come back from vacation and have been working on

multiple bills that have nothing to do with the budget. I

understand that many of these bills may be good for California, and

I understand that there are people like you all over who feel

strongly that they should be passed. But our focus right now must

be on getting a budget passed - otherwise, we will run out of money

to pay for services and goods and the state will suffer.

It's time to send a message that we are tired of missed deadlines

and business as usual. Let me be very clear: the next bill that I

sign will be the budget, and anything else that reaches my desk will

have to wait. I hope you'll contact your local legislators and tell

them that it's time to pass a budget. You can find their contact

information at www.leginfo.ca.gov. Your voice is important, and I'm

confident that when legislators hear the concerns of their

constituents, they will act and do what is right.

Thanks again for your enthusiasm. When we've passed a responsible

budget with meaningful reform so that this doesn't happen again, I

will remember your letter when I consider this bill.

Sincerely,

Arnold Schwarzenegger

We don't want this to get to the Governor's desk ... It needs to be squashed in the State Senate.

Excellent point ... once Arnie sees it, he WILL sign it.

It can NOT get to his desk ... if it does, and he signs it ... let's just say it will be a very tough time for BD.

PLEASE ... all of you in California ... Take ACTION now, before the Senate votes on it!!!
