  1. I agree. It actually hurts my eyes trying to read stuff on here now. It's pretty bad.
  2. The SEC has a sharing system also. At least in football they do. Some conferences (such as the Big 12) don't have it. The teams who bring in the most money, get the most money. In the SEC, the money is split even among everyone. And what a shock, it works.
  3. What qualifies as a significant stretch out of the top 7? Take SCV for example? Oh, and I get your point, just don't understand the example here. Also, PR has pretty much been a stable top 7 corps since 76 (with a few exceptions). And have the Cadets been out of the top 7 since 81? Can't remember. Again, understand your point. Not the example.
  4. No doubt..Most are supportive. And I asked my Morman friend to go on a picnic last Sunday, but he couldn't bc it was Sunday..Dohh. But seriously, I did.
  5. No. But it reflects on the corps which they are representing. Also, odd example considering who you responded to. Cadets were a class act during retreat when I marched. And I respected them for that.
  6. Sorry Bawker. DCP is much more defensive than it used to be, and I will go back to taking life seriously again. I really doubt that was Hop's intent. Just poking fun. Again, I apologize.
  7. Not sure if I should thank you or be upset at you..wow
  8. Great comparison.. When drum corps members are being paid in the millions you may have a point.
  9. I thought Fran was just giving an example of making something work for a wider audience. Guess I was wrong??
  10. No doubt. And I've even said some parts I like, and others not so much. But I don't have all the facts. And some people obviously didn't read his entire statement, considering some of the posts I've seen made on here. Dan also said: "I do know each corps leader is equally compassionate toward the other as well as their respective corps. One of the truly spectacular aspects of DCI's fraternal dynamic is that no matter the background, no matter the different points of view, no matter the underlying competitiveness, there has always been compassionate resolve in the end that serves the entire collective." Some people are just not reading this part I guess? I have seen many posts which are opposite of what the above statement says. And he said: "Now, I realize many fans and participants want all the facts of what has taken place and want to dissect every word of every statement to get to the truth. Certainly, I respect the passion held by them. They too are concerned for the future of the drum corps experience and for that I am truly grateful. However, it is time for the corps leaders to join together, and with the DCI staff and the fans, focus on delivering the best experience to date for the amazing participants in all groups who will take the Drum Corps International stage this summer. We owe them nothing less than a magnificent experience, and we owe the volunteers and professional staff around them the support necessary to make this happen." Again, does this sound like Dan wants fans to boycott corps or shows which have G7 corps? Because I've seen several posts on here claiming that's what we should do. And then using "facts" as the basis for that claim. And this isn't directed at you Jeff..There's no doubt there is major concern right now, as Dan pointed out. Some are going about this with a level heads, which leads to educated discussions on the issue. Others, not so much. All I'm trying to say. Have a great night.
  11. Maybe bc we haven't seen it yet?!? All anyone is going on right now is SPIN. From both sides. And sadly, just spin from an idea which isn't even close to being finalized according to those who proposed it in the first place.
  12. My favorite part. "So .. the issues of the day may not be the proposal. What caused the ruckus were folks who did not follow the directive of the chair that all was confidential. AND .. today, we have an internet. That changes all ... folks talk, folks pass information and whether it is true or not it gets passed. This can be good .. or not so good I guess. In this case, there is so much out there that is incomplete it's incredible. And by the way, since this is drum corps why in god's name would folks not give their name to quotes? It's not a national secret is it?" And he's got a point. Why hide if you are telling the truth? This isn't national security, it's drum corps.
  13. Or people could read the proposal for themselves, and then form an opinion. Wow, what a crazy idea. But that's too much to ask most people it seems. And I don't have an opinion on it bc I haven't read the proposal yet. But it seems like everyone on here has by the reaction I'm seeing. So I would like to ask them, where can I find it?
  14. So SCV and BD are going along to pull support from Open Class corps? Yeah, that makes sense. Although it doesn't..At all...In the least bit. But I'm sure you are right.
