I played it my senior year in high school. It was fun to play.

MaestroBen
Which is the ONE single version you like best? I like the Madison 78 version the best of all of the versions I've heard and played...and I've heard all of the Madison versions except for ones from the 60s, VK's, and the Cadets'. I really think it's funny that everyone loves the '88 Madison version the best. That corps could march its A** off. But, there wasn't exactly a great Madison-like lead soprano section, hence the Mellophone cadenza. If you like '88 Madison, I strongly suggest you check out the earlier Madison versions. For me, '78 is the most fun. The whole thing sounds like (and I know it isn't but this is how it sounds to me) "HEY GUYS, WE JUST FOUND THIS AWESOME CHART. WE LOVE IT. IT'LL BLOW YOU AWAY." And, that CD isn't complete until you add the MSARP version. I think I had more fun playing that than playing the '96 version. I march with a community marching band and the director was very partial to woodwinds since he played sax. Some of the tunes played were on the "light" side. But, he added Malaguena one year and it was "Honkin!" Everyone took notice along the parade route when were were approaching them!

dugada
LOL I was cringing at the thought of this CD when I realized you had one of my old corps, 81 BDB. Now that I think about it, I'm still cringing. Where did you get the recording? I think Malequena music is included with the warranty documents on all brass instruments.
