drumlaw80
Hey Cats. We have some great ideas for 2009, but we are making a concerted effort to see if there is a genius idea (or 7) for the Renegades 2009 show lurking in the minds of one of our members, fans or competitors. We want to know what YOU think would be a great show concept or musical selection for the Renegades. If you have music or a show concept that you think would be great for Renegades 2009, our design team is all ears. What would you like to hear the San Francisco Renegades play at DCA? Got a show concept that would be perfect for Team Evil? Let's hear it! All serious suggestions on here will be reviewed our Design Team. You input is appreciated and welcome, but please leave the jokes and wacky comments for another thread. Thank you! Lee
DCIHasBeen
Okay ... Here's a show concept that I thought would be perfect for you guys. "A Science Fiction Double Feature", featuring the music of "The Rocky Horror Picture Show", "Reefer Madness: The Musical", and "Little Shop of Horrors" Intro ... (Bonnie Ott on Mellophone would be lovely here ...) "Michael Rennie was ill the Day the Earth Stood Still, but he told us ... where we stand ..." into a full-frontal blast of "Like a ... Science Fiction (ooh, ah, ah) Double Feature ..." into the opener of the the title song from "Reefer Madness" (from the Reprise, not the opening.) There's a lot of good stuff to choose from here for production numbers, but I'm thinking "Little Mary Sunshine", "The Orgy" and "Listen to Jesus Jimmy" would probably kill in any combination. Maybe add in a little bit of "You'll Be a Dentist" for fun. The show moves in and out of tunes from "Reefer Madness" and "Little Shop", including a total rockout of a medley of "Mean Green Mutha' from Outer Space" from Little Shop and "Five and Dime" from Reefer Madness The ballad (placed where an exit would go, old school style) Mixes up "The Stuff" and "Romeo and Juliet" from "Reefer" with "Suddenly Seymour", and the show comes to a stunning conclusion fading into "Don't Dream it, be it", from RHPS, into a backfield turnaround for a majestic "re-entry" reprising "Science Fiction Double Feature", and a frenetic finale of "Don't Feed the Plants" from the stage version of Little Shop (it's in the end credits of the film but should never have been cut, imo, from the Finale.) Game over, babies thrown. Audience commits mass suicide because they're never going to see anything better in their lives. The goals of Evil Drum Corps have been served. Any questions? (Note: Some might argue that "Reefer Madness" isn't about science fiction. I'd argue the underlying premise of the movie the play's parodying is ALL about science fiction.) And since Bawker's breaking out the lyric-y goodness: Creeping like a communist, it's knocking at our doorsTurning all our children into hooligans and whores Voraciously devouring the way things are today Savagely deflowering the good ol' U.S.A. It's Reefer Madness, Reefer Madness (Reefer Madness, Reefer Madness) Oh so mad! See the kids! Precious kids! Yes, their heads are on the chopping block and someone's got to dare to take a stand Can't ignore any more, it could be your son or daughter With a deadly stick of reefer in their hand! They're heading straight for Reefer Madness! Reefer Madness! Reefer Madness! Reefer Madness! Save our kids! Stealthy as a socialist, it slithers up our shores Turning all our children into hooligans and whores! This smoking bowl of evil bears the choking stench of sin! It burrows like a weevil under tender Christian skin! This... Reefer Madness! Reefer Madness! Reefer Madness! Reefer Madness! Oh so mad! Pull the wool from your eyes! We're in need of righteous soliders for this merry wonder has to be destroyed! Fight the urge of this scourge! It's destructive but seductive! So some drastic measures need to be employed! To put and end to... Reefer Madness! Reefer Madness! Reefer Madness! Reefer Madness! Oh so mad! Deadly as the Democrats that empty out our stores! Turning all our children into hooligans and whores! Teenagers across the land are glazed and oversexed If you fail to draw the line, your babies will be next! Oh! Reefer Madness! Reefer Madness! Reefer Madness! Reefer Madness! Oh so mad! Tell your children! (Reefer Madness) Fight the menace! (Reefer Madness) Kill the Devil! (Reefer Madness) Save the country! (Reefer Madness) Madness! Madness! Madness! Madness! Reefer's made us crazy barking... Mad! Edited October 2, 2008 by DCIHasBeen
bawker
"Liberi Fatali" from the Final Fantasy VIII soundtrack as an opener. . . Tell me these lyrics (translated from Latin) aren't tailor made for Evil™. Wake from your sleep, my children,The childhood years (cradles) are gone. Wake from your sleep, fated children, The peace (rest) is gone. Rise! Search! Go to the true garden, The garden of vernal truth. Fiery truth Burn the evil world. Fiery truth Light the dark world. Goodbye, children, The day has died.
andre le géant
The Omen Original Soundtrack (1976) Jerry Goldsmith _______ I think the music and the whole tense story of "Is this child the antichrist?" throughout the film, leading up to the final scene and revelation would lend well to a Renegades show. camel lips
There is a song on the pop charts called "All Summer Long" by Kidd Rock that has some really good harmonies in it and room for some mean solos. Drum corps last all summer long so its a untapped song as of yet. Another song by Green Day 'Wake me up when September ends " is another really fitting song for DCA corps because our season does end in September. Tie those two audience friendly songs in with some other masterful works and you have a story about a summer activity called drum corps.Something that I don't think has really been done by anyone except the Cadets and that show would have really been a hit with the audience if they would have left out the narration. DCIHasBeen
Doug2 ... you are GOOD! This would be a KILLER SHOW for the Renegades! Thanks, Jeff ... and it's not like that actually came rolling off the top of my head. It's something that had been rolling around there for a while. Although ... It might be too ambitious for a senior corps, any senior corps. (Oh, and can we make that Doug2.0? It just has such a new media ring to it.
