Dizmaster
Here is a list of Corps from the 1976 Mayflower Circuit Here's something else to consider. Mayflower was the third largest circuit after CYO and Eastern Mass. (The CYO music festival or championship show took 2 full days so that each unit could perform. No prelims and finals just 2 days non stop.) If you went back another 10 years and looked at all three circuits, you'd have a list that would be larger by a factor of about 10. That factor would also take into account that most corps in our area belonged to 2 circuits. Let's also not forget the other nearby circuits like Little Rhody and Nutmeg. We're talking hundreds of units within 50 miles of Boston. Some towns had 6 or more units. There were week night shows as well as afternoon and night shows both Saturday and Sunday. The season lasted from just before Memorial day to the third weekend in September to give all the circuits and units enough dates to sponsor one show per year. Even then, you had to choose between as many as 3 shows within about an hour's drive on any weekend day or night. This didn't include non circuit shows like the World Open, Danny Thomas Invitational, etc. Those were the days! Steve Solombrino Also remember that the Greater New England Circuit existed, which also included Canadian Corps, as well as the Yankee Circuit out in the Berkshires. The Quincy Renegades, the corp I belonged to, competed in C.Y.O., Mayflower and Greater New England, in which we competed in '26' contests during the summer; as well as practices between the weekend shows. I can say that if those corps of yesteryear still existed; there would be more DCA Corps. James DeGraaf
Ghost
The stadium in Malden was used for end of year chammpionships also. The trains were onhly a slight distraction.
