BozzlyB
In my opinion, a judge can not adequately judge a percussion line from high up in the stands ( especially when the lines go backfield )Again, it's just my opinion. If you believe a judge can adequately judge a percussion line from high up in the stands, I respect that opinion. While I agree that it is less adequate than having two judges, I disagree that it is impossible to get a comparable read from corps to corps. They're obviously not hearing everything, but there are enough exposed parts for a judge to make better than an educated guess as to how lines stack up against each other from a basic execution standpoint. grandechai
Yes, the percussion judge at present is in the stands. What this means is that the single percussion judge is judging percussion from approx. 50 yards away, and elevated. Now, don't get me wrong as I have enormous respect for the experience, training and knowledge of these percussion judges. They know a LOT more about their craft than I do. But I DO know this......... Their eye sight is still only 20-20. Once we have the percussion judge down on the field, ( and a 2nd percussion judge added to shows ) things should sort themselves out in a manner that makes judging a percussion line a little more realistic and sensible. I believe the Percussion 2 judge has been eliminated all together.
