When River City Regiment folded in 2007 many of the members started down the path to form a new Sacramento DCA corps. To my knowledge it has not gone anywhere and probably won't since the Freelancers are gaining momentum.

The new corps was going to be named Delta Heat.

The "heat" part would've been accurate. Rehearsal temp the day of the Sac show in 05 was absolutely brutal...worst I've been through since Memorial weekend camp in 84.

Quote from Dream sop Art Hood that day..."Man it's hot. And when a black man from Arizona says it's hot...."

For the funny, "You may Take the Field in Competition." It's like naming a restaurant "Thank You for Calling, How May I Help You."

For the serious, The Florence Freelancers.

Feel free to shoot me down on this, but I always thought that should a corps rise from somewhere like Kansas, they should name themselves something along the lines of "The Haysville Harvest" or "Harvest Sound" or maybe just "Harvest" and then they should take straw hats and make them into aussies ("Strawssies!") and have feathers that look kind of like the 07 Crown Plume, that mix of different earthy shades of brown just arching over the "strawssies."

other ideas:

"El Chupacabra" a corps based out of New Mexico or the Texas border region which primary plays loud Latin jazz music

"Cajun Soul" a corps based out of Louisiana and eats jambalaya on tour?

"Contender" for that corps that will always be a contender for a medal...but never takes the big one home

Pretty close. We used Prairie Sound and we did have straw Panama/Gambler hats for a little bit. They evolved into white Panama?Gambler hats and we pinned up the left side to make kind of an Aussie.

I can hear Brandt Crocker now:

"On the field, from Los Angeles, California. Drum Corps International is proud to present: Duude."

"Are the judges ready?"

"Drum Major: Is you corps ready/"

"Duude, you may take the field in competition...or whatever."

Someone tell VK!!

The Kiezka Kadets will lead the Dyngus Day parade in Buffalo NY the first Monday following Easter.

WHO STOLE THE KIEZKA? and IN HEAVEN THERE IS NO BEER tunes readily played, with vigor I might add.
