noneofyourbusiness
So, where is the news from the new all-age corps that have yet to march in Rochester? Have not heard much lately from High Country Brass, Prairie Sound, Austin Stars, Masquerade, etc., etc. Any news? Bueller?
TomPeashey
all I know is what I read on DCP, but Austin did announce on here that they would be non-competitive again in 2010...

You could always ask them personally. The inquiry might make them feel like someone cares. Some of us don't find an advantage of putting out every little detail here.Just my opinion. Thanks for inquiring though. Kansan
Prairie Sound Drum & Bugle Corps Olathe, KS (20 minutes South of downtown KC) We are busy in our own back yard at the moment. We just finished our Fall Parade Season with the Baldwin City, KS Maple Leaf Parade and are looking toward a combined parade block with representatives from the Commanders Prairie Sound and Vigilantes at the Tulsa, OKlahoma Veterans Day Parade. Should be a fun time. For 2010: We will have a Winter to Spring Corps that will rehearse once a month Jan-April and will perform at 2 Indoor shows and 1 Parade. One show will be SDCA Our Summer Corps will operate from May to August and will perform at two Shows and one Parade in Kansas as well as a road trip to two DCA shows in Minnesota. Our Fall Corps will hit the Parade tour again increasing to at least 3 Parade performances. We are looking at being a Regional Corps in 2010. Our IRS 501©3 case has been closed and we are awaiting a response from them. Gaining IRS recognition will really help us with fundraising. A trip to Finals is not in the Cards unless the Membership agrees to send a Mini Corps. Thanks, Jeff Dancinger, Prairie Sound!!!! Robert Kirby
So, where is the news from the new all-age corps that have yet to march in Rochester? Have not heard much lately from High Country Brass, Prairie Sound, Austin Stars, Masquerade, etc., etc. Any news? Bueller? Cincinnati Tradition is probably the quintessential "everything old is new again" corps, having been in existence for twenty-odd years before making our DCA nats debut this year as a mini-corps. So here's what we've been up to... On the recruitment front, we've done two performance appearances at high-school marching band shows. This is the first time we've done this type of performance plus recruitment booth, at least since I've been in the corps. We have one more of these appearances tomorrow, playing the National Anthem to open the contest and our mini-corps show for the retreat between prelims and finals. We have two more pure recruiting events, one at a big contest in Metro Dayton, and one at the MidStates Band Association AA and Open Championship on the north side of Cincy. So far we've had some nibbles, but we prolly won't see many concrete results until marching-band season is over. We have had concrete results in our adult recruitment efforts. Since DCA we've welcomed five new folks: one contra player, one sop player, one bass drummer and two snare drummers. Good cats, one and all, and all with solid chops. On the member-development front, one of our younger members is exploring the wonderful world of the G soprano, having previously played a Bb trumpet. A couple of members are stretching their wings by arranging performance exercises, chorales, holiday tunes and perhaps some show music. On the support front, we pursued a new winter practice site. We will be in the spacious new Salvation Army facility on Center Hill Ave. This will be the most centrally-located practice site we've had during my time in the corps. On the performance front, we ill once again appear in Hamilton County's Veteran's Day parade in the west-side neighborhood of Cheviot. In addition, we have been invited to a Christmas parade in Amelia, on the city's east side. This may include some time playing holiday tunes on the band-stand. So, I'm not a spokesman or anything, but that's what we're up to. It's really exciting. Robert Kirby
davidp
Chattahoochee Vanguard is still an army of one, not meeting the minimum requirements of either MCA or DCA, and thus will not be performing or competing in 2010 (unless, of course, the numbers pick up ).
