madalumni
I doubt they are marching 20 tubas. Donnie isn't that stupid. Well you could ask him if it's true. I think he has an account on here. But the report from several of my fellow alums (and a Contra...oops Tuba vet) who have been at board meetings and this camp, is that they plan on marching 20 Tubas, with 84 horns total. BozzlyB
Yeah, that's one thing that I felt was a shame. Madison always had talented lowbrass lines, but for some reason the Contras (and Baris/Euphs) were staged so far backfield there was little to no presence throughout the shows. Both years I marched, I don't think I crossed forward of the center X once unless it was a company front. There are exceptions like 88 and going back further to the 70s, but for the most part, we have been very top-heavy in sound. I'm excited for this coming season because one of Jim Mason and company's main goals is to return Madison to having a massive sound! Brad Green = massive sound, I don't think you'll be dissapointed! I heard from an old friend who's son was there that there were more players than instruments available. Mind boggling.

noneofyourbusiness
How was their turnout in other sections? All he said was that they had enough for two full hornlines. He said drums and guard were about the same as the horns.

Bill L.
Due to the giant amout of PM'S I'm getting about Madison Scouts camp , I will tell a few things about it. The Madsion Scouts are marching 20 Tubas. The Madison Scouts are wearing spats. They may be using both silver and brass colored horns. (everyother horn was differant in the horn arc. ) Yes it is true that everyone that was named on staff is really on staff ! The hornline did do a 4 hour marching block. The battery turn out was as big as the last 3 years combined. Rhap/Blue was played. ( and rather loudly at times ! ) Bill
