Just aged out.

Not a music major.

Could and sometimes did walk to camps.

Walk to camp? Where did you march?

Summary to Poll:

About half of the responding members are music majors. This is significantly different than the perception that nearly all marching members are music majors.

Nearly 60% of the respondents drive to camps and most of those (46%) are within 360 miles of the corps! So while membership is not local it is certainly still very regional..

it would be interesting to see the breakdown if you polled just the WC demographic, then the OC.

Well if you want to break it down by season...

'88-'93 - 400 miles to corps proper. 8 hours driving direct.

2 hour 30 minute-ish to bus pickup(CSUN), 8 hours on bus (1 hour layover in Fresno for food)

'98 - 5 miles - 10 mintues

'02 - 140 miles - 2.5 hours

'04-'05 - 185 miles - 3.5 hours (mostly highway)

'06 - 1210 miles - 22.5 hours

'07-'09 - 30 miles - 45 minutes

'10 - 200 miles - 3.5 hours (maybe, $50 a day is a rough justification, to drumcorps or to keg-er per would be camp weekend.)

Hours is EACH WAY. Not including fuel / rest stops / traffic / trains / F# twisters / tolls / ........

Please feel free to add details in a post.

This poll is spin-off of the "The Real Deal" thread. The statement was made that 90% of current corps members are from out-of-state and that they are all music majors. Curious to see what DCP has to say about that....

you do realize Mike in some cases, a one hour drive or less can involve crossing state lines
