Akron, OH show, July 9!

Rather than "intellectual potential" being a possible limiter, I'd say that it's "creative potential" - how much room the concept gives the staff to add new effects and moments that could logically be said to be of-a-piece with the concept as a whole. It was the genius of the Cavaliers approach throughout the last decade - with a few exceptions, the show concepts allowed for the addition of all sorts of things that might not have had any specific meaning in themselves, but could be seen as extensions of the idea anyway. The shows that are too specific in terms of what they're trying to do are inherently limited in this capacity, imho.

100% agree about the Cavaliers shows. Pick a year this decade - it has truly been a joy to see them several times over the course of a summer and each time there was something new and amazing to watch that had been added since the last time you saw them. It seemed the show just kept building over the course of the season until it peaked at the very end - several times with a championship ring.

That approach has got to help with the judges. Can you imagine judging a show late in the year and corps A comes on that you've seen 3-4 times already and they don't do anything new? That cannot help their score when it comes time to rank and rate.
