Kevin Doherty
Trivia question: Who was the actor who created this sound? It was in the 50s and I remembered his first name, but not the last, so I looked it up. No trick question here; when I was a little kid I really enjoyed this actor's character. KD Robert Newton "invented" pirate talk in Disney's Treasure Island (1950) with his portrayal of Long John Silver.
Kevin Doherty
As Ed McMahon used to say to Johnny Carson, "You are correct, sir". Newton is one of my childhood favorite characters. I think we got our first TV in 1949 and my laptop has a bigger screen than it did, but Robert Newton. was a favorite character. I think St, Vincent's won Nationals that year.
