KeithHall
Can the alumni continue to support corps as more corps ask for money? Saw where a DCI corps has to raise $300,000 to meet the budget. How soon will the next corps ask for donations? With all the people out there complaining about DCI, where will the extra money come from? These are tough times, tougher than the 1970's and can drum corps still be supported?
KeithHall
I can see this might be a controversial question. LOL
Jocko the Wonder Llama
Perhaps rather than gaining income, the corps should look at their expenditures. How many corps buy new drums every year or two? Even if they get a substantial price break, that is still several thousand dollars paid out every couple of years. (The drums are still in good condition, they just buy new ones to have a new look.) The same idea applies to uniforms. Does a corps really need to change uniforms ever 3 years? Lets not even get started on the cost of props. And now they want to add lighting?? Before we start trying to get more money out of the alumni, lets try to cut back on the spending. Drum corps should be about the performers, not the "artists" who design the shows.
