I played soprano bugle in 74, between my freshman and soph years at Bama. That was a great little drum corps. I ran into them two years later as an Army musician when we were playing at a drum corps competition somewhere in the Midwest. One thing we did in Summer of 74 was play at a halftime show for the Birmingham Americans. I think they were World Football League. A buddy of mine was an Associated Press stringer (photographer) and he took a really cool shot of me during that show. It’s hanging on the wall in my home office.
