BRASSO
A (very quick) glance through the Corpsreps score archive shows that in the late 50's / early 60's, both VFW and AL had either 10 or 12 in their Finals. There's not full contest data for many years earlier than that, so I'm not sure where to check next. Mike Some of the years after WW2, the AL and VFW National Drum Corps Championships did not have 10- 12 at Finals as the Conventions were either A) too late in the season, ie Oct. 16th one year or B) they were held in areas too far to travel for a lot of Corps, ie Portland, Oregon, Seattle, LA, or Miami. cowtown
I heard it was based upon how many shows you could fit on a record…4 corps per album…8 was too few, 10 left an empty side so they went with 12, 3 records worth
