OPEN CLASS

1. 61.300 Columbians

Little mistake: Columbians' score on Wednesday was 51.3 not 61.3, putting them in 8th place for O.C. at that point.

How were these computed? Just wondering since I have my own spreadsheet for tracking the rankings. I average all of a corps performances, then add that to their highest score in order to make a power ranking of sorts. I think it helps present a clearer picture of where things are at right now rather than looking at the season as a whole. Because ultimately, it doesn't matter if corps A has a slightly higher average, corps B just has to beat them on finals night.

Since its the Semi's and the Finals ( for the top 12 ) that only count ( and that are remembered ), for the June and July shows before we get to the Regionals, in order to rank and place the Corps in a meaningful way, I find the best methodology, among about a dozen out there that is utilized, is to utilize a black blindfold that covers my eyes, and to position myself approx. 15 feet away from a dartboard with the names of the Corps on the board. I then have 25 darts that I toss at the board for my meaningful rankings. It works well for me, although to be sure the rankings generally have not much use by Finals. I also tend to forget the dartboard methodology rankings by august, and also tend to forget where I put the dartboard and my darts. But I usually am able to find my blindfold, dartbard, darts each May to begin the process again. But I think my methodology is not as precise and as meaningful as what others use here. So next year, I am thinking of using a Ouija Board in late June and early July, and wonder if this methodology will provide me with more meaningful late June, early July placements, and if so, does anyone here think I should publish my rankings that come out from this method.. or not ?
