Red Skies at Night - Sneak Preview

Recommended Posts

Hi everybody. Happy March. I hope this note finds you and your corps well.

You might have heard, I'm the director of a film called Red Skies at Night, which has the involvement of the Blue Devils, soon to be Renegades, and a Japanese pop star named Shizuka. In January, we all assembled in LA and shot Red Skies. Fyi, Red Skies at Night is the prequel to a feature film I wrote called Goodbye Blue Sky, which we will shoot in the fall.

If the titles sound familiar, it's because they're named after Renegades 2004 and 2005, and incorporate elements and music from those shows. This is no "statement" of any kind, nor a drum corps show -- the title was chosen done out of respect for Renegades, and also because the team I assembled for the movie has the same mind set, rules and approach we used for Renegades (some of the same people too). Our music team has alumni or current staff from BD, SCV and Cadets, and our visual team includes Scott Chandler and Jay McCarroll. The music to this was written by Shawn Glyde, Blue Devils drum set specialist, and a key member of our music team 7

Yesterday, we released the sneak preview on You Tube, the initial reaction was crazy-fun, over 3,000 views in 24 hours.

DISCLAIMER

Do not expect a drum corps movie. We're making a science fiction movie using drum corps performers and designers, a pop star, and a Hollywood talent. In Hollywood parlance, this is a "teaser" - a simple and hopefully powerful tool for producers to present a project and select footage to investors, actors, citizens etc

Enjoy!
