alexnielsen
I've heard both sides of this story. Some people say you should de-tune the drums while they are stored in the off-season, others have told me it makes no difference. What do you think? FlamDragHero
I've always leave mine tuned in the off season. The heads will be fine when they're ready to be used again. They will naturally detune a bit but its nothing damaging to the drum or the head.
chhhhrpow
I've heard both- Detuning the heads if you don't use them for a while doesn't affect the heads too much but it does put extra tension on the shell of drum. I've never detune any drums because we get new drums every few years, but if you're looking for longevity with these drums loosening the heads wouldn't be a bad idea.
