britdrums
Does anyone know if it's possible to make Finale play diddles. I know how to notate them on there but can't get the darn things to play with having 32nd notes!!! I'm using Finale 2002 if it makes any difference. cheers Nick
tamadrummer04
I dunno if Finale 2002 has it or not, but in 2003 go to "Plug-ins", select "TG tools" then "smart playback"...that should work...I dunno if 2002 has that though...hope this helps. tamadrummer04
OK. Find the square with the whole note with an accent over it...click it. Then you click whichever note you want to add an articulation to...there'll be a bunch of squares with different things. the one that looks like // is what you want...and there you have it...hope this helps. lol. Any other questions?

Was not aware of that one, that is a great tool! No more making a playback version and a print version!
Smudge
You can write the diddle but not hear them in playback with finale 2002. I always just used, for exampe when writing eights, for the diddle I wrote two sixteens then. It doesn't look good, but it works.
Cavalier2123
There is a 'ghetto' way of doing it... Use the midi tool to make the notes with the diddles on them have a velocity of 0. Make sure "show active layer only" is checked in the view menu, and in layer 2, just put singles where the diddles would be. So when you play it back, finale will mute the slashed notes, and play the invisible singles in layer 2. It is 1 am, so I hope that made sense. jmackay
Actually........... you can write them as real 32nd notes and move one on top of the other and then put a slash on top of the two of them from the articulation menu. Bit of a pain but you can see and hear a 32nd note passage. There is a problem when you go from page view to linear view. Stay in page view so your print-out will work. britdrums
Trying not to sound stoopid how do I move the notes one on top of the other? cheers for the help by the way
esquire
just like the guy said, put the diddle art. on the notes, and then select the notes you want to diddle. go into plugins, tg tools, and apply smart playback (i think there is a trill option or something) and then you should have it. should work for 2002 and 2003
