Jomusichn Posted July 8, 2004 Share Posted July 8, 2004 I have a Bach Bb, a bach C an Amati Pic trumpet, an American Commander bugle and an old B splat King, and I have found that the king sounds better on the field and the bach sounds better in concert. First of all, Im a fan of the crown-and I am going to try audition next year, so I figure its great to support my interests. Next, I think that is what they are playing on this year? Correct me if I am wrong. But if that is true, they were sounding pretty sweet when I heard them at Allentown. I think they beat many of the corps ahead of them in music--obviously the judges dont agree w/ me. It blows pretty well for me, but the tuning was all goofed up to start with (All pushed in and still flat) But for some reason it is correcting itself and now it plays quite a bit better. But for $450--I can beat it up for many years to come in college marching band and perhaps jazz band. There is a nice Kanstul and a very nice Conn v-1 up for sale in the market place.Its the tab at the very top of the screen.There are also a lot of knowledgeable folks on that website that can go into great detail about what a POS the DEG/DYNASTY horn is. If your interested in a Bach Strad lacquer flugel horn I have just the baby for you.Its in great shape and I will let it go for $1000.I plan on replacing it with the Conn V-1 Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

Are they special, by that I mean have they been beefed up for a marching environment. I've heard good things about King trumpets and I don't have the money for a Xeno or Strad. leadsop97 Posted August 15, 2004 Share Posted August 15, 2004 I have a Kanstul trumpet, it has to be the sweetest thing I've ever played on and I've played on a lot of trumpets. So I guess it all depends on the player with certain horns unless you're talking dynasty, cause they all suck B) ....our low brass dynasties were just as bad as the high brass....to each his own I guess, because I hate the yamaha xeno's and bach strats...and my trumpet cost more than both....i dunno......
