Who'd a "THUNK IT"...

Recommended Posts

Hello Friends;

Who would have thought, that "Lil Ole Me" could generate SO much interest in a

Topic...A computer "under acheiver(sp?),and relative "Newbie" to DCP... ((Now that I'm "getting the hang of this thing",I could sit here ALL day!)

(I'm glad to be of service)

Here's ANOTHER "good one"... anyone remember the AWESOME show,of the "ANAHEIM KINGSMEN",at the FIRST DCI? '72 (at Warhawk Stadium,in Whitewater)

That year,"my corps";the "32nd HUSSARS",finished NEXT to last,in Prelims...

So,we were there to see the "Night Show"... it was INCREDIBLE!!!(I remember seeing them at "U.S.OPEN,that year...and thinking that they would be CHAMPS!)

Anyway,(you KILTS will like this!)The '72,OTL,(I saw at "World Open)will

FOREVER be in my memory!!!(With the "Double Snares",and The Sop. Line sounding like "BAGPIPES"!)

(These "Kids" missed SO MUCH!!!)

Alhough,I do admire them, for their "Phsyical(sp?) Training! (After seeing some of the recent shows,I know that I would'nt even be "CONSIDERED" at auditions.

But,I also remember seeing the "ROYALAIRS",in exhibition(sp?)in Madison...

The D.M escorted a Contra player ( a REAL Senior Member),down the 50 yard line,to a "Chair"...where he "SAT",and played the whole show!!!

(Me, with a "walker",would need some help, getting up "the Podium",BUT, STILL

it's in my HEART!!!)

OK,enough for now...More rantings (from an "OLD PHART") soon...

ALWAYS YOUR BROTHER! DANIEL

First a little tip from another of the spelling impaired. Compose your topic or reply in MS Word and let it correct the spelling for you. Then cut and paste.

Now I’m not going to say AK didn’t deserve to win in 72, but we beat them by over 3 points in pre-lims and if we hadn’t marched a terrible show in finals I am sure we would have won! That was our only loss that year and it still bothers me. In today’s environment we would have still won even with the lousy finals performance!

ptr250 do you mean compose it then cut and paste? Or are you saying there's a way to do it right here with Microsoft Word?

Thanks, this would help me as well!!

Hi chefdan, you may have been next to last in your first one, however your drum corps career continued on nicely.

Did you only march in the 32nd Hussars 1 year? I'm not sure I know any of their history. Can you give a short summary (if you don't mind) about that corps, where it was located, how long it was in existence, etc? Also, when did you go to the Scouts? edited.

I loved the Kingsmen! Oh my Lord, that rifle line..... well, that goes without saying for anyone that has seen them! Also, parade rest in the ladies room.....long story.....1976

So SCV was undefeated all year and then lost at finals?

Hey Chefdan,

I remember Anaheim well that year and they were awesome! I watched them rehearse the afternoon before finals at the U.S. Open in Marion, Ohio. Man, it was 90+ degrees out and humid, but they were like a well oiled machine. They played through their show non-stop like a championship performance then immediately marched back to the starting line in a front and did it again...twice! Very well conditioned drum corps. It was like they were doing wind sprints. I was exhausted just watching them!
